And speaking of Pongo, today marks one whole year since this delightful boy came to us!!

Time flies when you're having fun, and oh my goodness what fun we've had. Pongo has this undeniable and irresistible charm to him that instantly has people falling for him- like love at first sight!

Pongo came to us with fading vision after years of working as a lesson pony. He loved his career (and his fan club) so I was worried as his vision fully went that he would miss having some form of purpose. Lucky for all of us, as the last of his vision has gone his personality has only gotten bigger! And he's been able to transition from lesson pony to a budding artist 😉

His days are filled with love, goofy antics, and finding new ways to get on the mare's nerves. 🥰 His lack of vision certainly isn't stopping him!

We are SO grateful for everyone who came out to join Pongo's painting club last night painting Pongo's pumpkin patch! Huge thank you to our friends at Bracken Hill Farm for hosting us and letting us dress up and snuggle your adorable goats (I think the lobster costume won)!

What fun it was to see everyones creativity shine through 🥰🍁 thank you to all who attended! And if you're sad you weren't able to, keep your eyes out, I hear Pongo wants to expand his painting club 😉

Today's the day! And we couldn't have asked for better weather!

Don't forget to wear your costume tonight for our first paint night by Pongo with our friends at Bracken Hill Farm ! He's so excited for everyone to join his painting club! Pongo has been painting his bum off to get all the canvases ready and can't wait to see what everyone thinks 🥰

Abscess? What abscess??
Thankfully Xena's abscess popped yesterday afternoon and looks to have continued to drain overnight and the relief has been very apparent. I'm so relieved to see Xena cruising along again 🥰

Because nothing is ever simple, Xena has a monster of an abscess working through. Good news though, she's stubborn as all get out when she has abscesses, nothing will stop her. And in other good news, she's happily back to eating.

Frustratingly, it looks like it's going to break through on her heel bulb. Yucky really. I'd love to keep it wrapped or keep her hoof boot on, but where her old lady feet are shaped in a run under way, wrapping or boots puts pressure directly on the spot it looks to be working towards, hurting her even more.

I'd love to offer her stall rest, but Xena has different ideas. And truthfully, whatever she wants she gets. And where she's feeling fiesty enough to run away from me on three legs at the speed of smell, I can't help but indulge her wishes for grazing time and going to her paddock with her friends.

It's tough to be an old lady.

At least once or twice a year, Xena will just decide she doesn't like her grain anymore. It's usually after a good steak of her eating everything after me upping her food.

Well, she's at it again but this time it's just feeling different. I'm trying not to get myself to stressed by it, but it's hard when she's older than dirt. While I don't know what's up, the vet is being kept updated just in case. While all her vitals have been normal, there's just been something meh with her.

She did seem to perk up after banamine and milk of mag, so this evening she got a buffet to determine what was the offending food item and to no surprise she completely ignored her Timothy alfalfa pellets. Hay stretcher, senior, and alfalfa cubes were all acceptable though.

So, I'll keep an eye on her and maybe keep splitting her food up to see if that keeps her happier. Who knows, maybe food can't touch anymore.
