If you have tickets for the SOLD OUT Steely Dane show tonight Fri March 6 at the Opera House - come a little early and check out Alex White and David Wyatt in the Ghost Light Lounge! Representing one half of the band Alex White & The Friends Alex White Music, you’ll hear many different influences in the music. They’ll play some original songs as well as covers from multiple genres spanning five decades.

Best known as a founding member of the Midwest Jam/Funk band Pine Travelers, songwriter/guitarist Alex White has played in dozens of bands in his 20 year career as a professional musician. Prior to Pine Travelers, White was a founding member of the bands 4th Coast and Elf Lettuce. During those years, he toured much of the U.S. extensively and had the privilege of being the weekly opening act for Clyde Stubblefield, the legendary “Funky drummer” for James Brown and countless other artists. With a wealth of experience under his belt, White performs regularly with bands, as a solo artist, and organizes an annual tribute to The Band’s “Last Waltz” concert. Alex and Dave also write original music for their studio project Phat Boyz, and play in local Ween tribute band Play it Off Legit.

Coming right up on Thursday March 5th ahead of the Leftover Salmon Acoustic(ish) show in the Ghost Light Lounge we welcome Madison award winning singer-songwriter, Franko, known for his performance and writing in Wurk and Old Oaks. Franko provides an intimate acoustic atmosphere with 12-string renditions of classic tunes like Heart of Gold to melodious indie-folk originals. His solo performances feel like a sip of coffee with the first morning light, perfect for an intimate ambiance. The song writing floats between peaceful and gripping while carrying consistent emotive vibes. Franko’s compositions for both his ensembles have received Madison Area Music awards and acclaim.

All ticket holders to the shows of the night at the Opera House are invited to come early and pre-show with music in the Ghost Light Lounge!

Coming out of the cold and back into the warmth of live music at the Opera House…On February 1st, ahead of the SOLD OUT Infamous Stringdusters show, we’re excited to welcome Boxcar Music to the Ghost Light Lounge.
Boxcar is an acoustic trio from Madison celebrating the spirit and history of traditional and improvisational music. The band features husband-and-wife duo Tim and Sheryl Hall, joined by longtime collaborator Dan Plourde. Their music blends melodic interplay with rich vocal harmonies, honoring the kind of spontaneous musical conversation that makes live performance so special. There’s a deep sense of familiarity in their sound — fitting, as they also share a love for Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead through other projects.
All ticket holders to the shows of the night are invited to come early and ease into the night with great music that sets the tone just right in the Ghost Light Lounge. 🎶

Who knows where the time goes? Here we are on Dec 30th, 2025 just about to the raise the lights on 125 years of songs and celebration at the Opera House!
We want to thank everyone who was able to contribute financially to the SOHFA - Stoughton Opera House Friends Association giving campaign this year. We also want to thank those who support us with well wishes, volunteerism, spreading the word, and of course - buying tickets and coming to shows!
Whatever the New Year brings for you, we promise to keep bringing the music.

SPOTLIGHTING WISCONSIN: SOHFA - Stoughton Opera House Friends Association

This week, we're shining the light on the Stoughton Opera House Friends Association (SOHFA), an organization established in 2014 to raise friends and funds in support of the historic Stoughton Opera House. Since then, SOHFA has contributed more than $500,000 toward preserving and enhancing this beloved historic space—helping keep it working for the community as a place for quality live music (80 shows per season), culture (history and community led restoration), and community life in south-central Wisconsin.

SOHFA's Annual End of Year Friendraiser launched on November 24, 2025, and will go until the end of year. Visit www.stoughtonoperahousefriends.org to donate.
