National Scoliosis Foundation

National Scoliosis Foundation Scoliosis affects 2-3% of the population, or one out of every forty children, and there is no cure. Early detection & treatment of scoliosis matters.

The National Scoliosis Foundation (NSF) is a patient-led nonprofit organization dedicated since 1976 to helping children, parents, adults, and health-care providers to understand the complexities of spinal deformities such as scoliosis. Severe scoliosis impacts the quality of life, putting pressure on the heart, diminishing lung capacity, and limiting physical activity. Thankfully, through early d

etection and treatment advances, the worst effects of scoliosis may be prevented. We are involved in all aspects of scoliosis support, whether the issue is early detection through screening programs, treatment methods, pain management, or patient care. Our focus is on promoting public awareness, providing reliable information, fostering ongoing research in the field, and educating and nurturing the community of those affected by scoliosis. Full time assistance is available Monday through Thursday, 9:00am to 4:30pm EST, offering prompt personal responses via our toll-free number, 800-NSF-MYBACK (800-673-6922). Questions may also be faxed to 781-341-8333 or e-mailed to [email protected]. Our mailing address is 5 Cabot Place, Stoughton, MA 02072. We also provide comprehensive education and support for patients and healthcare professionals through videos, books, brochures, local chapters, conferences, and postural screening training sessions.

Official Recognition from South Carolina for Scoliosis Awareness Month!

We are proud to share that Governor Henry McMaster of South Carolina has officially proclaimed June 2025 as Scoliosis Awareness Month, thanks to the continued efforts of Elisabeth Harkins, a dedicated advocate and scoliosis warrior.

This marks the 13th consecutive year South Carolina has issued this proclamation, and the 12th year the city of North Augusta has followed suit. Elisabeth, diagnosed at age 10, continues to speak out for the importance of early detection and scoliosis education.

💬 "I feel it is really important for early detection to be talked about more," she shared.

Her story reminds us that awareness saves lives and every voice helps move the mission forward. Let’s celebrate this milestone and thank Elisabeth for her powerful advocacy.

Thank You for Standing Tall with Us at Niagara Falls 💚

This past Saturday, the iconic Niagara Falls was illuminated green in recognition of Scoliosis Awareness Month. We extend our sincere thanks to the Niagara Falls Illumination Board for helping us bring this powerful moment to life.

The glowing green falls served as a symbol of hope, visibility, and unity across the US and Canada. This event reminded the world why scoliosis awareness matters. Too many individuals go undiagnosed or face delays in care. By raising awareness, we push for earlier detection, better access to treatment, and stronger support systems for families affected by scoliosis.

Now, we take the next step. Your donations are what allow us to continue this work. Every contribution helps fund educational outreach, advocacy efforts, and patient-centered resources.
