Thank you to everyone who came out for the Scandinavian Days 5k this morning! With 125 registrant, we had our largest year yet! We loved seeing all the new and returning faces. This year we had participants under 1 year old and over 70 with a good number of families running together-inspirational all around!

5k results are posted in the window at Story City Greater Chamber Connection, a Main Street Partner. Results and finish line photos will be posted to the Scandi5k.com website this weekend. Photo booth and course photos have been posted to our FB already-please feel free to tag yourself!

Thank you especially to River Bend Golf Course for continuing to share their space with us. Our runners appreciate the shaded, breezy, and flat course and the spectators appreciate having multiple places to cheer from. Its easy to see why people love golfing at your course!

Day 2 and we have 32 more ASISTors willing, ready, and able to provide su***de first aid.
When I reflect back on this group I am reminded of their authenticity, compassion, confidence, diligence, engagement, and bravery. I am also reminded of how they have built family and health so naturally amd deeply into their daily lives they kept checking on one another and us as instructors to make sure we were all taking care of ourselves. It was a truly aspirational group to get to teach.

Thank you Shattuck St. Mary's School for being proactive about su***de safety and for being amazing role models for all the students you care for.
I've never imagined life would take me to a boarding school but after spending 2 days with some of your staff, I can see why so many parents trust you with their children and why so many staff choose to serve at your organization. ❤️

We have been saying for years our youth are talking about su***de- The only choice we have is whether or not we enter the conversation with them. One thing we have learned the last 2 days is youths social media reachers further and faster than adults fathomed. This video is just one example of the conversations they are having.

Year after year after year after year after year. Our hearts are hurting with our community and with our families. It is time we learned how to have better conversations. I know this is scary. I know it hurts. The only way forward is through.
