The UConn Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers - NSBE The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is owned and managed by its members.

Our organization has been serving the University of Connecticut and communities around the State of Connecticut since 1981, and continues to progress and grow through the increase in chapter membership and members who go on to pursue
professional careers. With more than 30,000 members around the world, NSBE is one of the largest student-governed organizations based in the United States. NSBE’s mission is "to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community."

Recap of Region I Fall Regional Conference in Parssipany, NJ.

CTNSBE is awarded Region I Chapter of the Month for September.

CTNSBE member John Owens is awarded Region I Member of the Month for October.

CTNSBE members Stephen Sam and Sydney Wimberley dominate the Region I NSBE Debaters competition, and will be representing the Region I at National Convention.

CTNSBE is recognized for having the most GPAs submitted and verified in the region.

Johneilia Bariffe, our Region I PCI Conference Planning Chair, led the effort in planning 4 days worth of workshops and activites for over 130 high school and middle school students.

Travis Coke served as the Fall Regional Conference Vice Chairperson and Allan Bakker as the Content Coordinator, both playing integral roles in developing and running FRC for around 850 attendees.

CTNSBE Alumni, Arron Lucas, facilitated the Draper Technical Challenge at FRC in which 3500 in scholarships were awarded to winners of the competition.
