We're the Alpha Omicron Chapter at the University of Connecticut - Storrs. We were founded by four inspiring women wanting to support all women on campus.

History:

Sigma Lambda Upsilon/ Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Incorporated was founded on December 1, 1987 at Binghamton University. The organization not only serves as a voice for women in an academic setting, but it also provides a sincere sisterhood and unconditional support while actively promoting academic achievement, service to the community, and cultural enrichment. Although, Sigma La

mbda Upsilon is a Latina-based Sorority it highly prides itself as an organization of diverse college-educated and professional women dedicated to uplifting traditionally marginalized groups. Since 1987, SLU has been an outlet for professional development and personal growth to its members and serving constituents. We value Sincerity, Loyalty, and Unity. Our National Philanthropy is Literacy.

The Alarmingly Outstanding Hermanas of ΣΛΥ💃🏽 will be holding a Menstruation Product Drive at the Student Union on March 2nd from 12:00pm - 5:00pm where we will be collecting donations. All donations will be donated to a women’s shelter! We look forward to seeing you all!

Hermana Aracelis Figueroa (SPR’20) has graduated the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems 🙌🏼

✨ “Coming to UConn I felt a huge culture shock and didn’t feel welcome especially as a Afro-Latinx Woman in a predominantly white male field, STEM. I joined because I wanted a sense of belonging and have a greater platform to empower women, achieve academically, give back to my community and more. Since joining as a freshman I emerged myself in various leadership roles for my local and at a national level. I continue to embody the goals and ideals of an Alarmingly Outstanding Hermana and will continue to do so HLM! 💃🏽”

What does the future hold for our Hermana?
✨ “I have accepted a full-time role within the Operations, Technology, Data & Analytics Leadership Development Program at The Hartford 👩🏽‍💻. Within my first 6-month rotation I will be a Software Developer working within the cloud infrastructure for the group benefits side of insurance. I will simultaneously be working towards my Master’s in Engineering with a concentration in Data Sciences at UCONN💙”
