Happy World Environment Day from the UConn Soil Nutrient Analysis Laboratory!

Effective May 13, 2026, please drop off or send your samples to our new home in the George Leigh Minor Plant and Soil Health Center. The Minor Center brings together UConn’s soil testing, plant and turf diagnostics, and Home & Garden support in one place to better serve Connecticut growers and residents.

We’re happy to share that Avishesh Neupane, Ph.D. has joined the UConn Soil Nutrient Analysis Laboratory as our new director! Avishesh is a soil scientist focused on nutrient cycling and soil health, and he’ll be leading our testing services and outreach for gardeners, farmers, and land managers.

UConn Extension at the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources is seeking a Project Specialist to assist with implementation of the Expanding Connecticut Urban Agriculture through Vacant Lot Activation and Peri-Urban Farmland Access Linking project!

This NIFA funded project seeks to research, design, and implement a process to connect existing and aspiring urban farmers with underutilized lands so that they can launch and/or expand their farming business!

This position is around 20 hours a week and reports to the Fairfield County Extension office in Bethel, CT!

Compensation - $27/hour. This is a temporary, project-based position without benefits. Funding is currently in place for 4 years project years. This position is funded by a grant from USDA-NIFA!
