BV Buddies Mentoring

BV Buddies Mentoring BV Buddies is a STARS organization that links a Storm Lake Middle School student to a Buena Vista University student to form a mentoring relationship.

The focus of the program is to create positive, mentoring relationships between Buena Vista University students and fifth through eighth grade middle school students in the form of community service. Many of the middle school students are "at-risk" students which we would rather refer to as "on the brink of success". We meet an hour a week with our mentees in which we engage in positive activities

such as helping with homework, arts and crafts, cooking, games, and sporting activities. Along with weekly activities, we go on field trips twice a year to build relationships and experience opportunities they may not be able to on their own.

Hey mentors! A few updates: We are having a fundraiser on Wednesday, April 11th at Pizza Ranch, and are needing about 10-12 volunteers. The fundraiser will be from 5:00pm - 8:00pm, and the shifts are from 4:30pm - 6:15pm, and 6:15 - 8:00pm. Please let Angie Woodford know if you will be available to help!
Also, don't forget about Fort Frenzy on Saturday, April 21st from 8:30am - 2:30 pm.
Lastly, there will be no classes on Wednesday, April 25th!

Mark your calendars! On April 21st, mentors and mentees will get to enjoy a day spent at Fort Frenzy! Activities include roller skating, arcade games, laser tag, and so much more! More information will be released at the 21st approaches. Hope to see everyone there!
