Five Storm Lake High School students traveled to College Park, Maryland, to compete at the national level for National History Day 2026.
Eden Laguna Zavala, Frank Arbizu Guerra, Fernanado Ramirez, Riak Tut, and John Schwint created an historical website titled "Say Cheese!": How the Introduction of Community Water Fluoridation in Grand Rapids Revolutionized Dental Health. They competed with students from the United States and from around the world. Out of the 500,000 students who begin at a regional contest, then move to a state contest, only 3000 progress to the national level. Storm Lake earned an Honorable Mention for their work, which means that they placed second in their judging room and were top 20 overall in their category (senior group website).
Congratulations on representing Storm Lake so well! Eden, Frank, Fernando, Riak, and John qualified for the second year in a row for the national contest!
