The American Legion Auxiliary is one of the nation’s most prominent supporters of veterans, military, and their families.
ALA Unit 417 , based in East Setauket with members from the towns of Smithtown and Brookhaven, actively supports Veterans and active duty military and families. We enthusiastically participate in community events recognizing Veterans, supporting military families, celebrating our Nation’s holidays and days of remembrance. We honor our Veterans by promoting respect for our country’s history and our Nation’s flag. Most notably, we support youth educational opportunities such as Girls State.

We answer the call of Service Not Self.

We are the male and female spouses, grandmothers, mothers, sisters, and direct and adopted female descendants of members of The American Legion. Some of us are veterans ourselves.

We are affiliated with Harbor Post 417.
