On behalf of the Georgia Buddhist Vihara, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Professor Dr. Unil Perera of Georgia State University and Dr. Shrima Perera for their generous contribution toward the Proposed Shrine and Meditation Hall at Georgia Buddhist Vihara. We also acknowledge with appreciation their children, Drs. Nuwan Perera, Nirosha Perera King, Katie Perera & Roderick King as members of a family whose devotion, generosity, and steadfast support have enriched the Vihara since its establishment in 2000.
For more than twenty-five years, they have remained devoted supporters, making regular monthly contributions and offering assistance whenever the Vihara has been in need. Their generosity and commitment have also extended to Siv Vanak Arana, supporting its religious, charitable, and community services.
Their continued support over the years represents much more than financial assistance. It reflects their deep faith in the Buddha Sāsana, their spirit of generosity, and their sincere commitment to helping preserve and strengthen the Dhamma for present and future generations.
On this special occasion, we also respectfully remember with gratitude the beloved departed parents of both Drs. Unil and Dr. Shrima Perera. May they rejoice in the merits generated by this noble act of generosity, and may these merits be a blessing on their journey through Saṃsāra and toward the attainment of the supreme bliss of Nibbāna.
May Drs. Unil, Shrima, Nuwan, Katie, Nirosha, and Roderick & their relatives be blessed with good health, happiness, peace, long life, harmony, and continued success. May the merits of this generous contribution support the flourishing of the Buddha Sāsana for generations to come.
With profound gratitude and blessings,
Ven. Panamwela Wajirabuddhi Thero

The hawk swoops down and catches the quail.

The hawk releases it, and the quail returns to the plowed field.

The quail stands on a large clump of earth while the hawk dives toward it.

The quail slips behind the clump, and the hawk strikes the earth instead.

The clump protects the quail, just as mindfulness is described as a practitioner’s safe ground in the sutta. The Buddha’s lesson: For a practitioner, the “safe ground” is mindfulness of the body, feelings, mind, and mental qualities. Staying mindful gives Māra no opening. The Hawk Sakuṇagghi Sutta (SN 47:6)
