Stone Mountain Historical Society The Stone Mountain Historical Society believes that preserving and enhancing the historic character of the city will invigorate and enrich the community!

Founded in 1996, The Stone Mountain Historic Society, Inc. is headquartered at the historic Wells Brown House. The house was a kind donation from the Brown Family which galvanized our group. Our Mission is to promote public interest in the preservation of historic buildings and sites, and to collect, interpret and preserve the unique heritage of the City of Stone Mountain and its environs. Our Vision is to become the touchstone for Stone Mountain's heritage by actively preserving, collecting, interpreting and educating the public about Stone Mountain's rich past. We believe that preserving and enhancing the historic character of our city will invigorate and enrich our commercial and community life. We are a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation, organized and operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. All contributions and donations to the society are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

Thank you, Stone Mountain! 🥂 What a beautiful evening on the porch! Thank you to everyone who came out to mingle, laugh, and enjoy the gumbo, cocktails, and cookies at the Wells Brown House with us.

A huge thank you to our hosts Eileen and Ryan Smith for opening up the party - Eileen, that gumbo was a hit 🍲 🤤 ! We hope you had a happy birthday, Ryan! 🎂

Our President-Elect also shared a few words about all the good things happening at SMHS. We have a lot in the works, including the museum exhibit, some much-needed love for the Wells Brown House, our garden talk series, garden tours, the garden dedication, and our annual BBQ fundraiser. 🌿

There's so much more to come, so follow our page and check back often over the coming weeks. We'd love to see you at the next one! 💛

🌿 REMINDER! Calling all volunteers! Join us tomorrow, Tuesday, September 22 from 9am to 12pm as we clear and prepare a special part of our grounds, soon to be dedicated as Kathryn's Garden in honor of a longtime member and supporter. We'd love your help, the more hands the better! 📍 Historic Wells Brown House, 1037 Ridge Avenue. Bring gloves if you have them (we'll have extra on hand too), and maybe a water bottle 💦. "Many hands make light work", so we hope to see you there!
