At Ethaar, we try to keep hygiene kits—purchased and bagged with love—ready in our office for families who come to us during some of their most difficult times.

Each kit typically costs about $60 and is filled with essential toiletries and cleaning supplies. These everyday necessities can make a meaningful difference, helping families stretch their dollars further while ensuring they have the items they need to care for themselves and their homes.

We believe that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, especially during times of struggle. By keeping these kits readily available, we can provide immediate support when a family needs it most.

❤️ A small bag can make a big difference.

If you would like to help us keep our shelves stocked and ensure families never leave empty-handed, please reach out to learn how you can make an impact.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our dear supporter, Hera, and her community for rallying together to help us face food insecurity head-on. Through their generosity, they collected donations and purchased family-sized nonperishable food items and meat to help feed 30 families!

Thank you, Sister Hera and your community, for your ongoing support of Ethaar and for believing in the important work we do on the ground. Your generosity is making a real difference and helping families in our community feel supported, cared for, and remembered. ❤️

Together, we can continue to empower families with dignity and ensure that no family feels alone in their time of need.

Welcomed, Supported, and Loved ❤️

Another beautiful testimonial from a mother in our Welcome to the World program.

This Afghan mother resettled in the United States in 2023 and is now preparing to welcome her first baby. As a new mother navigating both pregnancy and life in a new country, the program gave her more than just essential baby supplies—it gave her knowledge, resources, encouragement, and the reassurance that she was not alone.

She shared that she learned how to better care for herself and her family and about resources available to support them. Her favorite part? The baby items, because they were so useful and needed for her little one.

Most importantly, she told us that the program provided support, useful resources, and things her family needed, and that she truly appreciated the kindness and help she received from Ethaar.

Her words are a beautiful reminder of why Welcome to the World matters. Every expecting mother deserves to feel prepared, cared for, and supported as she welcomes her baby into the world. 💗

We are so grateful to be able to walk alongside these families during such a special chapter of their lives. This is what empowering families with dignity looks like. ❤️

Meet a young Bengali mother who resettled in the United States in 2023 and is now preparing to welcome her first baby. Through the Welcome to the World Program, she learned about caring for herself, making healthy choices, preparing for her baby, and building a strong and healthy family.

After completing the educational materials and assessment, she received a collection of essential baby items to help prepare for her little one’s arrival.

She shared that the program gave her valuable information, practical resources, encouragement, and a sense of being cared for and supported.

For a mother navigating a new country while preparing for such a life-changing moment, these resources mean so much more than the items themselves. They are a reminder that she and her growing family are welcomed, supported, and part of a community that cares.

We are honored to be part of her journey as she prepares to welcome her precious new baby into the world. 💕

Goals, Growth & Beautiful Connections

Our first Suhbah session of the school year was held last Saturday, right after the girls’ respective Girls Rising Strong classes—and it was such a joy!

The girls gathered in a circle to talk about their individual goals, what they hope to accomplish, and the steps they can take to get there. They then brought their goals to life through a creative craft, making beautiful bouquets of flowers from construction paper, with each flower representing a goal they are working toward. 🌷

There was plenty of laughter, creativity, and connection—and clearly, the girls were having so much fun because they didn’t want to leave!

We were especially excited to see our own youth, ages 16–17, lead Suhbah and build meaningful connections with the younger girls. Watching young women step into leadership while creating a space where younger girls can learn, dream, and feel supported is exactly what we hoped Suhbah would become.

A beautiful afternoon of mentorship, friendship, creativity, and growth.

Giving Back with Love ❤️

One of the things we love most about the families we serve is how many of them, after receiving support, find ways to give back. Over the years, so many of our families have volunteered their time, energy, and talents to help other families in our community.

Most recently, two amazing moms rolled up their sleeves and helped us organize our office and storage space. They gave it everything they had—working hard, tackling every corner, and leaving everything better than they found it.

And they did it simply because they love to serve. ❤️

There is something so beautiful about seeing the spirit of giving come full circle. Families who once needed a helping hand are now extending that same hand to others.

This is community. This is service. This is love for others more than you love for yourself. 💕

Growing in Self-Awareness 💕🌱

Our first Youth Empowerment class, in partnership with Elevate Adolescence (Girls Rising Strong), launched last Saturday! This year, we’re excited to have two cohorts running in parallel, serving 30 girls ages 9–14.

Our first session focused on self-awareness—helping the girls better understand who they are, what they feel, their strengths, and the kind of person they want to become.

Through interactive activities, the girls explored their emotions, thoughts, needs, experiences, and unique qualities. They learned that while others may only see the “outside” of us, there is so much more beneath the surface—our dreams, worries, feelings, and hopes.

They also practiced recognizing their own strengths, building a supportive community, and thinking beyond what they want to accomplish to who they want to be—kind, courageous, determined, and compassionate.

And the learning doesn’t stop when class ends! We encouraged the girls to bring these conversations home by asking:

💗 What is one thing you learned about yourself today?
💗 What is one strength you’re proud of?
💗 What kind of person do you want to become?

Special thanks to Masjid Al-Momineen for providing the space we need!

One of our favorite programs is our Welcome Home Program, and one of its most meaningful components is Welcome to the World. ❤️

Welcome to the World is designed for families who are expecting their first American-born baby. Families enroll in the program and take the time to learn about all things baby—from preparing for their newborn’s arrival and caring for a baby to understanding what to expect during those first precious days and weeks.

After reviewing the educational materials, families complete a short assessment. Once they successfully complete the program, they receive a Welcome to the World package filled with essential new-baby items, including a stroller, car seat, Pack ’n Play, clothing, diapers, wipes, and so much more.

But the impact goes far beyond the items themselves. For families navigating a new country, preparing for a baby can bring additional financial and emotional challenges. The program provides practical knowledge, confidence, and tangible support at a time when it is needed most.

An expectant Afghan mother of three, who resettled here in 2021, said, “I learned helpful information about caring for my baby and preparing for the baby’s arrival. This program has been very helpful because my husband and I are currently unemployed, and these baby items have helped us a lot. We are very grateful for your kindness and support.”

This is why we do what we do. Every stroller, diaper, lesson, and conversation represents an opportunity to welcome a family with dignity, compassion, and the message that they are not alone. 💕

Going Above and Beyond 💙

We would like to highlight and thank our friends at MidEast Halal Market for their continued partnership and support of Ethaar!

Routinely, this family-owned small business boxes up nonperishable food items and has them ready for the families we serve. With so many families facing food insecurity, this thoughtful generosity helps ease their burden and allows us to respond quickly when an urgent need arises.

Their consistent support makes a real difference. They truly go above and beyond every single time, and we are so grateful to have them as part of our community.

Thank you, MidEast Halal Market, for helping us ensure that families have access to the food they need when they need it. ❤️
