Village Forward Wednesday returns tomorrow 🧡🍻

This month we’re revisiting Stone Mountain Village’s previous parking study and opening up a broader community conversation around parking, walkability, growth, and the Village experience.

A few years ago, the City partnered with ARC on a downtown parking assessment that challenged some common assumptions about parking in the Village — and a lot has changed since then 👀

No formal presentation.
No long speeches.
Just good conversation, ideas, and community connection ✨

We’ll also share a few updates on VF Anniversary Week, Thursday’s Run Club sponsorship, and some of the community-focused projects we hope to support moving forward.

PLUS:
We’ll be giving away THREE Stone Mountain Village banners courtesy of .katsales + the SMV Village Voice newsletter 🧡

Lately we’ve been reflecting on just how much community momentum has grown in Stone Mountain Village over the last few years 🧡

New events.
New traditions.
New friendships.
New energy.

And while Village Forward definitely isn’t responsible for all of it, we’re proud to have helped create spaces where people connect, collaborate, share ideas, and simply show up for one another.

As we head into summer and gear up for our 3rd anniversary month, we’re excited to keep that momentum going ☀️

📍Village Forward Wednesday returns in two weeks
📍We’re sponsoring this month’s RADvocacy Wellness Run Club at on May 28th
📍And yes… Anniversary Week is coming 👀

More details dropping soon, including the return of a community favorite! 👀🐝😏

For now, we just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has supported, partnered, volunteered, attended an event, or helped make this community feel a little more connected.

The Village energy lately has been really special.

Today is Cinco de Mayo, and while many of us know it for the food and festivities, it actually marks Mexico’s victory at the Battle of Puebla, not Independence Day.

It’s a good reminder that moments like this can be more than just a celebration! They’re also a chance to learn, show respect, and better understand the cultures that make up our broader community.

If you’re out today, be intentional about how you show up. A little awareness and thoughtful support go a long way. 🧡

Stone Mountain was once connected to Atlanta by trolley.

Not just movement… but connection.

Now imagine that idea reimagined—through art, culture, and community.

🧡 Join us this Wednesday as we explore what that could actually look like!

We’re excited to welcome Stephanie Fleming as our featured presenter, bringing this vision to life through a powerful case study on art + transit and its impact on economic development.

It’s not just about what was…
It’s about what’s possible.

Did you know Stone Mountain was once directly connected to Atlanta by trolley? 👀

Before traffic, before highways… Stone Mountain was already connected.

What would it look like to reimagine that kind of connectivity today?

👇🏽 Tell us what you think:

Would you use a modern version of this?
• YES – bring it back 🚋
• Maybe… depends on how it works 🤔
• No, I’m good driving 😅

🧡 Join us next week for Village Forward Wednesday as we explore how history can inspire what’s next! 👀

Last night was a good one! 🧡

Huge thank you to Benita Turner for sharing her knowledge and helping break down what affordable housing, land trusts, and homeownership can actually look like in our community.

We had some great questions, real conversation, and the kind of back-and-forth that reminds us why these spaces matter. It was also really great to see so many new faces in the room!

These events are always free, open to the community, and centered around learning, connection, and moving forward together.

Thank you to everyone who came out and showed up. 🧡

What does it take to build a community where people can afford to stay—not just pass through?

Join us for this month’s Village Forward Wednesday as we explore affordable housing, land trusts, and pathways to long-term homeownership—and how these tools help create stronger, more stable communities.

We’re excited to be joined by Benita Turner, an experienced housing professional who works at the intersection of homeownership, community development, and affordability. She’ll break down how programs like land trusts and shared equity models are creating real opportunities for individuals and families to put down roots.

This conversation isn’t just about buying a home. It’s about who gets to stay, grow, and invest in the future of Stone Mountain.

This Black History Month, Village Forward Wednesday is centered on a story of community, resilience, and the power of preserving our voices.

We’re honored to welcome Hattie Thomas Whitehead , who will share her experience growing up in Linnentown — and why stories like hers matter as Stone Mountain Village continues to grow and evolve.

We encourage you to watch the documentary linked in our bio — it’s powerful, inspiring, and an important piece of history!

Join us Wednesday at Outrun Brewing from 6–9 PM. We’d love to see you there. 🧡
