Inventor Who Transformed Baby Transport.

In 1889, William H. Richardson, an African American inventor, revolutionized childcare with his patent for the first reversible baby carriage. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Richardson’s innovative design allowed the bassinet to be turned so that babies could face either their caregivers or the direction of travel—a feature still used in modern strollers.

His design also introduced independent wheel movement, making carriages more maneuverable and practical. Richardson’s ingenuity not only improved convenience for parents but also showcased the brilliance of Black inventors in shaping everyday life. His legacy lives on in every stroller that carries a child today.

"This is Princess Sophie Charlotte, born in 1744. She was the second Black Queen of England, married to King George III."
She reigned during the American revolution and was Queen of the 13 original colonies before they won independence.
"In fact Charlotte, North Carolina is named in her honor."
BTW, Queen Charlotte is the great great grandmother of Elizabeth II and the great, great, great grandmother of Prince William’s (next to be King) young daughter, Charlotte.
"Yes, there is African blood in the British Royal family!".

Victor Hugo Green: Creator of the Green Book 📚Victor Hugo Green (1892–1960) transformed travel for African Americans during the era of segregation by creating The Green Book—a travel guide offering safe options for lodging, restaurants, and gas stations. First published in 1936 as The Negro Motorist Green Book, it became an essential resource for Black travelers navigating discriminatory practices across the U.S., especially in the Jim Crow South.
Green, a Harlem-based postal worker and visionary, published the guide annually until 1966, printing 15,000 copies each year. His work ensured safety, dignity, and freedom of movement for countless families.

Belonging Beyond Brown, a new documentary by Morehouse, the Morehouse College Center for Excellence in Education, and EdFlix Productions, will premiere on February 13th at 7:00PM in the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center. What does belonging mean for Black students in education when their models of intellect are replaced? explores the emotional stories of displacement, resilience, and the enduring quest for justice experienced by Black educators, students, and their communities before and after the historic 1954 Brown v. Board of Education Ruling.

Through intimate interviews and historical footage, the film delves into the personal struggles and triumphs of students, families, and educators as they navigated the challenges of desegregation. It highlights the emotional toll of forced integration while celebrating the strength and persistence of Black communities.

By drawing parallels between the past and present, Belonging Beyond Brown reveals how Brown’s legacy continues to shape today’s fight for racial justice and equitable education, making these stories as relevant now as they were decades ago.
