International Women's Day March 8: we honor the Women who make up approximately 17.7% of the U.S. active-duty military as of 2023, totaling over 225,000 personnel, marking a historic high in representation. Serving across all branches and combat roles, they are the fastest-growing group of veterans, with roles expanding from support positions in the Revolutionary War to fully integrated combat roles today.

Just a heads up. Due to high winds forecast the next few days I will be taking the flags down in the morning to avoid wind damage. Like I said before, we use double sided embroidered flags which are more expensive. Trying to make them last as long as possible. Chuck "Chuke" Dixon

I drove past the Jones County Freedom Rock tonight to check on flagpole lights and flag conditions and found something that deeply disturbed me. Someone took it upon themselves to lower the United States Space Force flag and remove it. If the flag was tattered or torn then we should have been notified by commenting on our page. If you did it because you feel the United States Space Force is not a worthy branch of service then we need to talk. They sign on the dotted line like all the other branches to defend our country. I will replace that flag again. What you did is recorded. Don't let it happen again.

Military members feel the impact of government shutdown

10/10/2025

As a veteran, military, and first responder organization, we don’t do politics — because the people we serve come from all backgrounds, beliefs, and walks of life. At some point, though, it stops being about politics and starts being about people. While both sides feel they are doing the best they can for their constituents as they try to hash out differences, this shutdown is beginning to have very real effects on U.S. citizens — especially the men and women who serve this nation.

We’re calling on Iowa’s entire federal delegation: work together, end this shutdown now. Our soldiers shouldn’t have to wonder how they’ll pay rent or buy diapers while serving overseas. Many of these young men and women have new families, living paycheck to paycheck, and they don’t have the luxury of waiting for Washington to figure it out.

To our community — you can help.
If you know a military family, step up. Mow a lawn. Clear snow. Fix something that breaks. Drop off groceries. Send a care package. Remind them that, no matter what’s happening in D.C., their service still matters and their community still stands with them.

This isn’t about red or blue.
It’s about duty, sacrifice, and humanity.
Let’s be there for our heroes when they need us most. 💔🇺🇸
