Thank you for your service and sacrifice. We honor those still with us and remember those we lost.

The Pentagon has released the names of four U.S. Army Reserve soldiers killed during the ongoing war with Iran. They were among six who died when an Iranian strike hit a tactical operations center in Kuwait.

They were all assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command based in Des Moines. The Pentagon said the incident is under investigation.

"Our nation is kept safe by folks like these brave men and women who put it all on the line every single day. They represent the heart of America," Maj. Gen. Todd Erskine, commanding general the 79th Theater Sustainment Command, said in a statement. We will remember their names, their service, and their sacrifice." https://cbsn.ws/4b4b34Y

On Feb. 1, 2003, the space shuttle Columbia broke apart during re-entry, killing all seven of its crew members: commander Rick Husband; pilot William McCool; payload commander Michael Anderson; mission specialists Kalpana Chawla, David Brown and Laurel Clark; and payload specialist Ilan Ramon, the first Israeli in space.

81 years ago, Auschwitz was liberated by Soviet troops.

The Germans established the Auschwitz camp complex in the spring of 1940 in German-occupied Poland. In just over four years, about 1.1 million people were killed there—including about one million Jews.

Each year on the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, we remember the victims of the Holocaust and carry forward the messages of its survivors.

We regret to inform everyone that there will be NO Smelt Fry this year. The North American Sales Rep from Great Lakes Foods, which the company which provides our distributors with smelt, had a very frustrating fishing season this year, which left them with approximately 45% of our normal catch volumes. As a result, all of our distributors are currently out of stock.

They are hoping to get fishing back up and running as soon as able to return to the lake, but they do expect to remain out of stock until at least April. This still does not allow us time to hold a smelt fry. We have also considered other sources of smelt, but due to our prior experience using smelt from Europe of South America has never met our quality standards.

The country lost a giant. These men served a country that looked down upon them as second-class citizens or even worse. They performed admirably during battle using the Code Talker system that helped battlefield commanders make quick decisions to win battles and save their fellow soldiers/marines lives. They won the war. Came home and couldn't tell anyone what they did because it was still classified until 1968. They were treated like s**t after the war and many struggled but they never turned their back on their country. They were proud of what they did. Rightfully so. They were extraordinary heroes but looked at themselves more as husbands, fathers, brothers, and mentors to the next generation. May we never forget their sacrifices and may we never forget their names. We must pass to each generation, their names and stories. May God rest their souls.
