🌊 Where Legends Crossed, Keep It Clean! 9th Annual Delaware River Cleanup🧤
📅 September 19, 2026
Reg: https://tinyurl.com/DelRiverCleanup2026

Join us for this year’s Delaware River Cleanup, honoring the nation’s semiquincentennial with the theme: “Where Legends Crossed, Keep It Clean.” 🇺🇸

After a busy summer of celebrating America’s 250th, boating, tubing, and picnicking, the riverbanks are ready for some TLC.

Last year, volunteers hauled out everything from the usual plastic bottles and food/drink containers to a jet ski, a boat, oil tanks, car parts, a toilet bowl, carpets, furniture, and even an iPhone. 🧐 It’s the treasure hunt nobody asked for.

This year, we’re cleaning up sites stretching from the Delaware Water Gap, NJ, to Duck Island at the Abbott Marshlands in Hamilton, and there are plenty of open spots waiting for you!

📍 Volunteer sites include:
Fireman’s Eddy Lambertville
Kingwood/Riverview
Frenchtown 12th St.
Byram Boat Launch, Bull's Island
Prallsville Mills, Stockton
Duck Island, Hamilton
On the water, Upper Black Eddy, PA to Kingwood, NJ

Grab your friends, family, neighbors, or crew and help give the Delaware River the TLC it deserves. 💙

Join D&R Canal's seasonal historian at 10:00 am for a 3-mile walk beginning at Washington Crossing State Park's riverfront parking lot that will take you north along the multi-use path into Titusville. ✏ Make a date with nature: an introduction to Nature Journaling, FoHVOS - Friends of Hopewell Valley Open Space 📖
Baldpate Mountain, 28 Fiddlers Creek Road, Titusville, New Jersey
September 16, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

On occasion we need to escape the day-to-day and spend a little quality time together. Nature journaling is a lovely way to slow down and give the natural world our full attention — to sit close, look a little longer, and let it surprise us. Like a good conversation, it builds calm focus, sharpens memory, and sparks creativity, deepening a bond that grows richer with time.

In this easygoing session we'll record what we notice — through drawings, diagrams, words, and numbers — and try a few fun exercises together. We'll cover the basics and explore from there.

No previous experience or special skills necessary. Basic materials will be provided but bring a journal if you already have one, wear comfortable clothes and be prepared to sit outdoors for a while.

An interesting blog post on Dragonflies by The Xerces Society
Dragonflies: Ambassadors for a Watery World
Learn where to find them, their migratory patters, and their role in the food web.

Although we mostly think of them as aerial insects, the core realm of dragonflies is undeniably water. It is where they begin and spend most of their lives, and where as adults they return to reproduce, laying eggs within or near aquatic habitats.
