A heartfelt thank you to Urban Forest Friends and the City of Union City for organizing the tree-planting event at Flight 93 Memorial Park, 3296 Courthouse Pl, Union City, on August 22.

Sikhs for Humanity was proud to partner in this wonderful community effort by providing lunch for all 70 volunteers who came together to plant trees and help make our community greener and more beautiful.

Special thanks to Shamsa Rafay for her coordination and support in making this collaboration possible.

It was inspiring to see so many volunteers working together in the spirit of community service, environmental stewardship, and seva.

Heat waves

🌡️ Heat illness can happen fast—especially if you work or spend time outdoors.

Knowing the warning signs could save a life.

⚠️ Watch for:
💦 Heavy sweating
😵 Dizziness
🤕 Headache
💪 Muscle cramps
🤢 Nausea

If someone shows signs of heat illness, move them to a cool place, give them water if they are awake and alert, and seek medical help if symptoms get worse. Call 911 if they become confused, lose consciousness, or have hot, dry skin.
Take the heat seriously. Learn how to protect yourself and those around you at HeatReady.org.

☀️ The hottest days can be dangerous if you work outdoors. Protect yourself by making heat safety part of your routine.

💧 Drink water—especially drinks with electrolytes—every 15–20 minutes.
🚫 Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and sugary drinks.
👕 Wear loose-fitting, light-colored clothing and a wide-brimmed hat when possible.
⏸️ Take every break you can, especially in the shade or a cool place.
🤝 Take care of your coworkers.

Your health is just as important as the job. Learn how to stay safe on the hottest days and find more heat safety tips at HeatReady.org.
