Breastfeeding Week is this week from August 25th-31st! This year's theme is We All We Got: 14 Years of Community, Care, and Collective Power.

For 14 years, Black Breastfeeding Week has held space for the truth that Black birthing and breastfeeding parents deserve real support, access, and community showing up for them. The disparities still exist: Black families face higher rates of maternal mortality, lower breastfeeding initiation and continuation rates, and less access to lactation care that reflects their lived experience.

But there is also a wonderfully long list of advocates that include lactation consultants, doulas, peer counselors and community organizers who've been doing the work and are the reason so many Black families have what they need to feed their babies the way they choose.

To learn more about what's going on during Black Breastfeeding Week and all the incredible events they have going on make sure to check out their website blackbreastfeedingweek.org
