✏️ STEAM without the A? Not on our watch.

We're thrilled to share that Blackwing Foundation's Courtney Berolzheimer will be presenting at the Early STEAM Summer Symposium on June 26th! She'll be diving into the role of the arts in early STEAM education and how creative learning belongs alongside science, math, and more.

Best part? It's free for educators everywhere. 🙌

Arts education is everyone's job. 🖤

Every educator — not just the art, theater, or music specialist — has the power to help kids think creatively, express themselves, and see the world differently. And we built our resources to make that possible.

To our specialist friends: we love you. We're not here to replace your expertise. We're here to expand the mission so that every student gets to experience the arts every single day, not just in your room.

Creativity belongs everywhere. 🎨

Before the first stroke, warm up those hands! 🤲✨

In this clip, Heather walks students through a simple finger warm-up using two writing instruments — a fun way to activate the brain AND the hand before any lettering lesson begins.

Try it before your next lesson and feel the difference! 🖊️

This activity is part of our free Lettering Series on Pathways to Creativity — always free at blackwingfoundation.org 🖤

To every teacher who cleared space for creativity when the curriculum didn’t—thank you!

The Blackwing Foundation exists because we believe the arts belong in every classroom, not as an elective, but as essential. Today, we’re grateful for every educator who already knew that. Tag a teacher who changed how you see the world. 🖤

Supported by Blackwing, where every purchase helps fund creative programming in K–12 classrooms.

Color mixing in action. 🎨

Watch Kim walk 2nd graders through blending oil pastels in this Jasper Johns-inspired "Numbers" piece — blue + yellow = green, and suddenly every kid is a color theorist.

This is what art class looks like when students are learning and creating at the same time. No worksheets. Just discovery.

The secret to beautiful cursive? It all starts with the letter n. 🔤✨

In this lesson, educator Heather guides students through an n chain — a practice technique where you place an n in between every letter of the alphabet as you write. It's one of the best ways to build the smooth, connected strokes that make cursive flow.

Try it yourself:

You don't have to be an art teacher to bring creativity into your classroom. 🎨

Our resources were made for the gen ed teacher — the one juggling literacy, math, science, and everything in between. No art degree required. Just grab-and-go lessons that fit seamlessly into your day.

To our art specialists: we love you and we see you. We're not here to replace you — we're here to make sure every kid gets to experience creativity every single day, not just during your class.

Because the arts shouldn't be an elective. They should be woven into everything. 🖤
