Harbel,Firestone-In the wake of disrespect for law enforcement officers, imbalance Justice and mob violence in Liberia, the founder and CEO of the Kolu Sokodolo Children Foundation has condemned recent police investigation that cleared suspended Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, Bryant McGill out of an alleged r**e allegation.
Madam Kolu Sokodolo Walters described the situation as an imbalance of Justice and disregard to the rule of law in Liberia. On October 14, 2025, the Inspector General of the Liberia National Police, Gregory Coleman announced that, the investigation into the allegation has found no evidence linking suspended Deputy Min. McGill to the crime.
He stated that the phone records of Bryant McGill and other evidence related materials contradicted the victim's claims.
But a dispatch from Stockton, California, USA, condemned the LNP'S report and indicated that they have violated legal precedents by failing to arrest suspended Deputy Min Bryant McGill based on probable case. Madam Walters said the police should have arrested him arguing that, Bryant McGill is a high profile citizen of the Country that could have served as a way paver for more details into the investigation.
She expressed disappointment over the action of the police and urged civil society organizations mainly women groupings to get involved with the case. Madam Walters further noted that the report could lead to a trauma for the victim and even make her hate the Country for the rest of life. Gone are the days when people in government and those supposed to be enforcing the laws and or even interpreting it were the ones ignoring it now.
"Justice is blind, Justice is not selective and nobody should be walking away with impurity like what happing in our Country now" Madam Walters added. She argued that the Ministry of Youth and Sports should be a place to formulate Youth development programs and a place for embarrassing information like the one involving suspended Deputy Min. Bryant McGill. Suspended Deputy Min. McGill was accused of ra**ng a fourteen (14) year old girl in this year, but since then, police have failed to rest him citing the conduct of a DNA test before arresting him.
It can be recalled that, a week after the police's claim of no evidence to link Bryant McGill, the father of the victim has revealed that there have been attempts to silence his family to compromise the case.
He claims that McGill personally approached him seeking forgiveness and urging him to compromise to let go the case and keep him save. The statement is the result of growing public concerns over the handling of the case involving the suspended Deputy Youth and Sports Minister who is facing accusation of statutory r**e which is an offense under the Liberian law.
R**e case is a non-billable crime in Liberia, which seeks to protect, end sexual abuse against women and girls in the Country. Since coming into force, the law had landed many accused and convicted rapists to jail including some high profile individuals, with some been acquitted.
But, with the case of Bryant McGill, he was never arrested by the police but; rather invited for questioning by the LNP, putting the Fairless of the police under dark cloud by many citizens and critics of the government. Madam Walters also noted that the report released the Liberia National Police poises threats to the movement of women and girls in places they are in the Country.
The dispatch further called on the government of Liberia and civil society organizations to being carrying on awareness campaign to explain the negative impacts of violence against women and girls most especially r**e and sexual abuse harassments in the Country.
In another related development, the Foundation also condemned the of motorcyclists in Liberia, describing it as a "hurt for unsafe society and inhumane".
A video which recently circulated on social media showing an angry mob, mainly dominated by motorcyclists in Johnsonville, Montserrado County brutally beating a man identified as Prince Yarlu, accused of being a motorcycle criminal, on Sunday, October 12, 2025. The victim was seen being hit with sticks and stones while lying helpless on the ground. Several motorcycles riders also rode over his body including his head, and another man was captured chopping his feet with a knife.
Details surrounding the accusation remain unclear, raising concerns over the persistence of mob violence and growing insecurity in many communities across Liberia. Madam Kolu Sokodolo Walters further said in the communication that, the attack rekindles the painful memories of Liberia's dark days and warned that such acts threaten the peace, stability, rule of law and scares investors away from a Country that is still struggling with National developments.
She expressed sorrow over the tragedy, and urged Liberians to desist from taking the law into their own hands. Madam Walters argued that the actions of the young people, mostly motorcyclists did not send a good message to the outside world about and even to children who are listening to radio or watching the video on social media. "We are raising tomorrow's leaders let us teach them the values of peace, tolerance and justice".
"I am aware that people who are looking for their families food through bikes riding are also been killed by criminals on daily basis". But that isn't a strong reason for someone to lose their lives.
The Kolu Sokodolo Children Foundation was established in August 2016, to provide education, skills empowerment for vulnerable women and girls, food assistance and housing support to underprivileged communities.
The Foundation operates in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Togo, the Foundation has undertaken many projects including the construction of a house worth over $2,000 USD for a woman identified as Mother Hannah Swen and supports to many Orphanages in Monrovia and surrounding. The Foundation recurrently runs a tuition-free school in Unification City, Lower Margibi County, serving hundreds of less fortunate Liberian kids.
