Thank you for coming out to the 1st Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Night with us and the Stockton Ports!
Thank You Kommunity!
From all of us to all of you, THANK YOU!
Thank you to the community for making the first ever Stockton Ports & Kommunity Hub Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Night a huge success! Seeing history being made in downtown Stockton while closing out AAPI Heritage Month brought an incredible surge of culture, unity, and community pride! We will be back next year!
It takes a lot of hard work to put on events for the community and the KHub Team really knocked it out of the park this year! Thank you to each team member for stepping up to the plate to make this event possible.
👋 Join the Team! We are actively expanding our committee to bring on more staff for future events. If you love what we do and want to join the Kommunity Hub team, we’d love to hear from you! Email us at [email protected].
Thank you to the Stockton Ports and Jordan Feneck!
Reclaiming our Space Together
Understanding the historical significance of our Asian American & Pacific Islander community in Downtown Stockton is crucial. From the early 1920s to the 1930s, our community thrived with vibrant small businesses in Little Manila, Chinatown, and Japantown, contributing significantly to the city's diverse cultural and economic landscape.
The construction of the Crosstown Freeway in the 1960s and 1970s was a significant challenge for our AAPI community. It displaced hundreds of people, resulting in the loss of physical assets and the vibrant diversity of commercial hubs. Despite these hardships, our community has shown remarkable resilience. We have made numerous efforts to build affordable housing and support ethnic businesses. However, the redevelopment plans that coincided with the construction of the Crosstown Freeway failed to revitalize Stockton's downtown and destroyed our cultural diversity in the long run.
Kommunity Hub envisions an economy that celebrates and recognizes our AAPI small and local businesses for their cultural and social impacts in the heart of Downtown Stockton.
Thank you to all the Vendors, Non-Profits, and Performances!
You all are the heart and soul of what brings all of our communities together! We appreciate every single business whether they were a food or retail vendor, non-profit, performance group, or an additional element to the production in making this event a success!
Thank you to our Sponsors
An event like this doesn’t happen without an incredible community standing behind it. We want to extend a massive THANK YOU to our generous sponsors who helped bring this vision to life! Please join us in celebrating and supporting these fantastic organizations, businesses, and local staples.
We Need Your Feedback!
We always want to make things even better for you next year, and your feedback is incredibly important to us. Please take a few moments to fill out this quick survey to help us level up our upcoming events! (Your answers are completely anonymous).
