Greater Valley Conservation Corps

Greater Valley Conservation Corps The Greater Valley Conservation Corps helps youth with academic instruction and green job training. We also offer recycling and natural resource services.

In 2000, Greater Valley Conservation Corps (GVCC), formally known as the San Joaquin Regional Conservation Corps, became a certified local corps. GVCC is unique to this group because they are the only recognized conservation corps that is operated by a County Office of Education, the San Joaquin County Office of Education). GVCC currently provides 18 to 26 youth members with education, training, a

nd employment in the fields of recycling and natural resources. GVCC recycling and natural resource divisions serve businesses, schools, special events, non-profits, municipalities, public works departments, and cities throughout San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Calaveras, Amador, and Tuolumne counties. In the natural resource division corpsmembers work on projects involving environmental conservation, ecological restoration, landscaping projects, and public land beautification. In the recycling division corpsmembers receive paid environmental education on work projects such as E-waste events, used oil outreach programs, beverage container recycling, and illegally dumped tire collections. In addition to these services, the GVCC City Action Team also provides Stockton with litter abatement services and graffiti removal. SJCOE provides educational leadership, resources, and services to San Joaquin County schools. With its highly regarded programs, innovative staff, and community partnerships, it ensures that every student has the opportunity of a quality education. We welcome your comments on the Greater Valley Conservation Corps page, but please keep it civil. We will remove inappropriate comments. These include comments that share confidential information, use vulgar language, attack individuals, advocate illegal activity, or violate the law or SJCOE policy.
