🚨 UPDATE: U.S. Supreme Court Asked to Intervene in Michigan Ballot Fight

The fight over the Americans for Citizen Voting Michigan ballot initiative has now reached the U.S. Supreme Court.

According to the emergency application, the group argues that if the proposal is kept off the ballot, Michigan voters will lose their opportunity to vote on it, regardless of how the underlying signature dispute is ultimately resolved.

The U.S. Supreme Court has been asked to act by September 3, ahead of Michigan’s ballot-finalization deadline. Americans for Citizen Voting has also asked the Michigan Supreme Court to intervene.

The legal battle is now underway in both the Michigan Supreme Court and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Jocelyn Benson said there was “no evidence” that non-citizens were voting.

Then Michigan news reported that the Attorney General charged individuals in cases involving alleged non-citizen voting.

Michigan voters deserve clear answers: What did election officials know? When did they know it? Michigan citizens deserve accuracy, transparency and accountability.

Every eligible citizen should be able to vote and every ineligible vote should be taken seriously.

🚨The Auditor General’s new voter-roll report is being misrepresented.

The Secretary of State’s office is calling the report proof that Michigan’s voter rolls are “secure and accurate.” But the report itself says it was not a full performance audit and does not offer an opinion on the accuracy of Michigan’s voter rolls.

🔹More than 18,500 active registered voters were flagged as possible non-citizens in state data, though the report does not establish that all were ineligible.

🔹In a small sample reviewed manually, more than one-third were confirmed non-citizens.

🔹A voter-activity report was off by approximately 1.28 million.

🔹One data-matching process covered about 7.3 million of Michigan’s 8.3 million registered voters at the time.

🔹Michigan waits 20 years of inactivity before removing a voter from the rolls.

MFEI is calling for the full, legally compliant audit required under state law before the September 15, 2026, deadline.

Americans for Citizen Voting Petition Signatures Fail to Be Certified

After hours of debate and just minutes before the 5:00 p.m. deadline, the Michigan Board of State Canvassers deadlocked 2-2 on whether the Americans for Citizen Voting Michigan petition had enough valid signatures to qualify for the November ballot.

The initiative fell short by just three signatures.

The petition organizers submitted more signatures than required, but disputes over signature affidavits and the certification process ultimately left the Board deadlocked. Without swift legal intervention, Michigan voters will not have the opportunity to vote on the proposed constitutional amendment this November.

Petition organizer Paul Jacob says the fight is not over and indicated that legal action may be next.

Michigan voters deserve the opportunity to decide this issue at the ballot box.

The Americans for Citizen Voting initiative is making its final push to get on the November ballot and today's Board of State Canvassers meeting could be decisive.

After submitting more than 709,000 signatures, the campaign is currently 17 valid signatures short of the threshold the Bureau of Elections says is required.

Supporters aren't giving up. The campaign has spent the weekend challenging disputed signatures and submitting additional evidence, expert analysis and affidavits from petition signers.

Now, the Board of State Canvassers must decide whether the disputed signatures should be counted.
If the Board rejects the petition, the initiative's path to the November ballot could end, absent legal action. If enough signatures are restored, the proposal could move forward toward the ballot.
