🎃 A Halloween reality check from Sustainable Stillwater MN! 👻 Forget ghosts and goblins. The real monsters? Overconsumption, overflowing landfills, plastic waste, and climate change. 😱

From fast fashion to disposable decorations, our throwaway habits can haunt the planet long after Halloween is over.

🕸️ The good news? We can fight back! Shop secondhand, reuse decorations, get creative with costumes, and think twice before buying something new.

This Halloween, let’s make less waste and more mindful choices part of the fun. Because the scariest thing isn’t what goes bump in the night… it’s what we throw away! 🎃🌎

What’s one way you’re keeping Halloween a little greener this year? 👇

Still basking in the glow of VCAW! Valley Climate Action Week may be over, but we’re still celebrating the moments that made the week so special—including the City of Stillwater’s VCAW proclamation at City Hall.

We were honored to present the city with a tree as a symbol of the choices we make today and the future we’re creating for generations to come. 🌳

As the proverb goes: “A society grows great when people plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.”

Read the full recap and keep the VCAW momentum going!

What a way to wrap up Valley Climate Action Week! The Community Watershed & Bird Festival brought families, volunteers, and organizations together at Browns Creek Park for a day of birds, water, nature, learning, and fun — and a little rain didn’t stop us!

From the raptor presentation to conversations about bird conservation and glass collisions, there were plenty of opportunities to learn and connect. We’re especially grateful to Allison McGinnis for bringing so many partners together and to all of the volunteers and organizations who helped make this event happen.

Thank you to everyone who came out and celebrated with us! 🐦💚
