Oklahoma 4-Hโ€™s youth leaders are preparing for the year ahead! ๐Ÿ€

This week, State 4-H Council members, State Ambassadors, District Officers, STEM Innovators, Shooting Sports Ambassadors and Healthy Living Ambassadors gathered on the OSU campus for the annual Leadership Team Retreat. Through sessions on motivation and AI in leadership, participants strengthened their skills, built team connections and prepared to serve Oklahoma 4-H throughout the upcoming year.

Apply by June 15 for the Karen Richardson Memorial 4-H Horseman of the Year Scholarship! ๐Ÿด

Outstanding Oklahoma 4-H Horse Project members in grades 9-12 are encouraged to apply for this $1,000 award recognizing sportsmanship, community service and dedication to the horse project.

Eligibility criteria:
โ€ข Enrolled in Oklahoma 4-H
โ€ข Compete in at least two classes at the State 4-H Horse Show
โ€ข Completed at least two years in the horse project
โ€ข Previous winners are not eligible

Final interviews will take place at the State 4-H Horse Show on July 10. For questions or to request an application, contact [email protected].

๐Ÿ„๐Ÿ‘ Oklahoma 4-H State Livestock Skillathon ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ–

Weโ€™re excited to host the first State 4-H Livestock Skillathon on Tuesday, July 21, at 1 p.m. at the Payne County Fairgrounds. This contest is designed to provide 4-Hโ€™ers the opportunity to develop problem-solving, teamwork and critical thinking skills while demonstrating their knowledge of meat animal production, animal science and livestock management practices.

Class divisions:
โ€ข Junior (grades 3-7)
โ€ข Senior (grades 8-12)

Participants must be active 4-Hโ€™ers to register and compete. 4-Hโ€™ers may compete as individuals or in teams of three to four.

๐Ÿพ Calling all Oklahoma 4-H dog enthusiasts! ๐Ÿ•

The Canine Sports Fundamentals Clinic will be held on Tuesday, June 16, at Totusek Arena in Stillwater. This half-day workshop gives 4-Hโ€™ers the opportunity to build foundational dog training skills, explore dog behavior and strengthen teamwork with their dog.

โฐ Session times:
Junior members (grades 3-7): 9 a.m. to noon
Senior members (grades 8-12): 1 to 4 p.m.

Applications are limited and will be selected based on a short essay submission. Participants must submit a 250-word essay outlining their interest in dog sports and goals for the clinic. Accepted applicants will be notified by June 5. The cost is $25 (due upon selection). Participants must bring their dog and required equipment, and parents must attend with junior participants.

๐ŸŒŸ Oklahoma 4-H Junior Governor update ๐ŸŒŸ

Our Oklahoma 4-H Junior Governor, Riley Braden, has been busy representing 4-H across the state this past month!

She led the countdown at the Bristow Lights On Ceremony, helping mark a historic moment while connecting with community members and state leaders, including Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell and House Speaker Kyle Hilbert, and sharing her passion for expanding resources in rural communities.

Braden also attended the Oklahoma Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Annual Conference, where she introduced conference speakers, Oklahoma Teacher of the Year Melissa Evon and Oklahoma Route 66 Museum Director Cory Cart, and shared about her position, program and platform.
