Some of the best parts of National Convention are the connections that continue long after Convention ends. From meeting Sisters from across the country to sharing experiences, learning together, and creating memories, Convention is an opportunity to build friendships that strengthen our sisterhood. These connections remind us that while we may come from different Chapters and Districts, we are all part of something bigger. As we continue our Road to Bethesda, we’re looking forward to the new friendships, reunions, and memories waiting for us at National Convention.

WOMEN! IN! MUSIC! 💙🎶💪

An HBCU marching band is making history at the head of the line. 🥁

Edreka “Capriccio” Coleman has become the first woman officially named head drum major in Albany State University history.

Her appointment honors the women who previously served on the Marching Rams’ drum major line while marking a breakthrough all her own.

Women in Music Spotlight: Toyin Spellman-Diaz 🎶💙
Toyin Spellman-Diaz is an American oboist. She grew up in Washington, D.C. where she found a love for classical music through her parents' immense record collection. Spellman-Diaz is known for her significant solo work and orchestra career, as well as her career in chamber music with the group Imani Winds. Spellman-Diaz is active in working to diversify the classical music world especially in the wind quintet and orchestral space.
She attended Oberlin Conservatory of music where she attained a Bachelors of Music. She additionally attended Manhattan School of Music where she earned both a Masters Degree and a Professional Studies Degree. Spellman-Diaz has performed with the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Chicago Civic Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony, American Symphony Orchestra, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and the Orchestra of St. Lukes. In addition, Spellman-Diaz has been a soloist with the Chicago Civic Orchestra, Manhattan Virtuosi, as well as with the Kennedy Center Youth Orchestra.
