Kappa Kappa Psi & Tau Beta Sigma National Headquarters ΚΚΨ and ΤΒΣ's National Headquarters is one of the groups who help take care of all executive and business strategies for the two organizations.

Kappa Kappa Psi operates primarily as a student service and leadership recognition society whose chief aim is to assist the Director of Bands in developing the leadership and enthusiasm that is required of his/her band. Our goals are to provide the band not only with organized and concentrated service activities, but to give our membership valid and wholesome experiences in organization, leadershi

p and social contacts. The honorary nature of membership is based on our premise that “it is an honor to be selected to serve” this band, its department of music, its sponsoring institution, and the cause of band music in the nation's colleges and universities. Tau Beta Sigma is a highly respected pre-eminent music organization comprised of over 160 collegiate chapters and more than 3,800 collegiate members with a balanced representation of women and men. Strong leadership thrives throughout our organization and we have a solid financial foundation. We cultivate and sponsor a variety of music education programs for our diverse membership and work closely with collegiate band directors. Our alumni association is an integral part of Tau Beta Sigma, promoting diversity efforts, social networking and assisting members in enhancing their professional leadership and employment possibilities after graduation from college. We are connected with music in the community which includes supporting music education at all academic levels.

🎉 Happy Retirement, Debbie Morris! 🎉

After more than 22 years of dedicated service to Kappa Kappa Psi & Tau Beta Sigma, we are excited to celebrate the upcoming retirement of Debbie Morris, our Membership Services Coordinator.

Debbie first joined the National Headquarters team in January 2001, served through the 2003 National Convention, and returned on May 1, 2006 to continue what would become a remarkable career of supporting our members, chapters, and volunteers. For many, Debbie has been one of the first voices heard when calling National Headquarters, always offering kindness, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to helping others.

Her impact on our organizations extends far beyond the countless forms processed and questions answered. Through her dedication and service, Debbie has helped generations of Brothers and Sisters navigate their membership journeys and has left a lasting mark on Kappa Kappa Psi & Tau Beta Sigma.

While Debbie will remain with us through the summer, we invite members, alumni, and friends to help us celebrate her extraordinary career. If you would like to share your appreciation, cards and notes of gratitude may be mailed to:

Today, Kappa Kappa Psi & Tau Beta Sigma pause to remember and honor those who gave their lives in service to our country, and we recognize the families who carry their legacy forward.

Originally known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day was formalized in 1868 through a Memorial Day Order issued by Grand Army of the Republic Commander-in-Chief John A. Logan. In 1971, Memorial Day officially became a National Holiday, ensuring that generations to come would continue to reflect on the sacrifice made for our freedom.

We honor their courage, their service, and their lasting impact.

National Headquarters will be closed today in observance of Memorial Day.

📣 Have you started your Spring Activity Report (SAR)?

Spring Activity Reports are submitted through OPUS at https://bit.ly/4v4rJSb
and will be considered late after June 1.

ALL active chapters of Kappa Kappa Psi & Tau Beta Sigma are required to submit a SAR each year. As an active affiliate of our National Organizations, your chapter is responsible for keeping National Leadership informed of your activities. While the Chapter President holds the constitutional responsibility for filing the SAR, completing the report will require collaboration with other officers to gather all required information. We strongly recommend submitting your SAR for approvals before the last day of the semester.

📝 Important reminders for this year’s SAR:
✅ Be sure to complete the new Chapter Finances section
✅ Be sure to complete the Spring Band Demographics section
📅 The dates entered in the Academic Calendar section should reflect the 2026–27 school year

As you work through the SAR, please also review any pending forms your chapter may have in OPUS to ensure National Headquarters has everything needed. To help us close out the school year, please complete all forms involving fees (Chapter Personnel Report/Update, Initiate Registration, Honorary Initiation) no later than close of business on May 29.

It’s easy, engaging, and makes a real impact. Your chapter simply selects a date and time, and NMDP will help coordinate the rest. During the presentation, your band will learn more about NMDP’s lifesaving mission, and attendees will have the opportunity to join the NMDP Registry.
