â-What is âThe Fellowship?â
We know what it is to travel and to be alone. Being in a foreign country alone, with no family or friends, and with no support network can be scary. It can also be very, very lonely. We provide that support network for international students. We call it:
âA place to belong and someone to call.â
â-Is this a religious thing?
Our leadership are devoted followers of Jesus, and some of our events do have religious content, BUT we are a place for Muslims and Hindus, Buddhists and atheists, as well as for Christians. We are a âfellowshipâ of people who have a great time together, support one another, and connect our students to the resources that they need.
â-What do you do?
We have various events and trips throughout the semester. We have events at the local lake that are a great time to relax, eat, and enjoy the outdoors with friends. Sometimes we bring in local community leaders to connect you to resources both on and off campus. We have trips to places like the OKC zoo. We have game nights and movie nights.
In addition to various social and networking events throughout the semester, we offer a weekly âFriday Fellowshipâ event at a local home. This is a place to make connections, have a great time with great people, play games, and enjoy a home cooked meal. Halal and vegetarian options are always available.
At the Friday meal we do a âGospel story-tellingâ segment where we will share one of the stories that Jesus taught, and then have a group discussion about what Jesus is teaching us. We have found that people of all faiths enjoy hearing the stories and discussing the meaning. There is no pressure to âconvertâ or to accept the teachings. It is a great place to learn about Christian teaching and belief in a no-pressure environment.
â-Is the Fellowship for me?
Are you an international student?
