Welcome to the Neboshone Trail Riders’ facebook. The club is made up of 55 fun loving families who all try to better the sport of snowmobiling. All snowmobile trails are marked and maintained by snowmobile clubs. Meaning no clubs equals no trails. Please, look to join a snowmobile club, if you are not already a member of one. According to our history, the club was founded in 1978 by a group of Sti
llman Valley and Byron residents. It is unknown where the name Neboshone came from for the club, but history says that it means “at the bend of the river”, in Indian language. By 1989 the club was receiving state grant funds and expanding trails to link up with all of northern Illinois. At present time, you could leave from our local club trails and ride all the way to Canada on a marked trail system. The club is very active in community events such as: Stillman Valley Fall Festival, On the Waterfront, Pecatonica Snow Show, State Snowmobile Convention, Stillman Valley High School Scholarship, and many more. We meet on the first and third Mondays of every month, between September and April, at 7:00 pm, at Fritz’s Wooden Nickel, in Stillman Valley. During the summer months, of May through August, we meet on the first Monday of the month, at Fritz’s Wooden Nickel. Some of the social club functions that happen throughout the year are: club rides, club trips up north, poker runs, trail picnics, summer picnics, bus trips, radar runs, and spaghetti/pizza suppers. The Neboshone Trail Riders are a member of Region 3 and the Tri-County Alliance. We are also a member of the Illinois Association of Snowmobile Clubs. Some of our members are very active in both of these organizations and give our local club a voice at the next level. There are also several club members who are part of the Ogle County Sheriffs Department’s snowmobile rescue squad. These members can be called on in case of emergency to assist the Sheriffs Department with its operations.
