Neboshone Trail Riders Snowmobile Club

Neboshone Trail Riders Snowmobile Club Welcome to the Neboshone Trail Riders’ page. The Neboshone Trail Riders is a non-profit snowmobile club located in Stillman Valley, Illinois.

Welcome to the Neboshone Trail Riders’ facebook. The club is made up of 55 fun loving families who all try to better the sport of snowmobiling. All snowmobile trails are marked and maintained by snowmobile clubs. Meaning no clubs equals no trails. Please, look to join a snowmobile club, if you are not already a member of one. According to our history, the club was founded in 1978 by a group of Sti

llman Valley and Byron residents. It is unknown where the name Neboshone came from for the club, but history says that it means “at the bend of the river”, in Indian language. By 1989 the club was receiving state grant funds and expanding trails to link up with all of northern Illinois. At present time, you could leave from our local club trails and ride all the way to Canada on a marked trail system. The club is very active in community events such as: Stillman Valley Fall Festival, On the Waterfront, Pecatonica Snow Show, State Snowmobile Convention, Stillman Valley High School Scholarship, and many more. We meet on the first and third Mondays of every month, between September and April, at 7:00 pm, at Fritz’s Wooden Nickel, in Stillman Valley. During the summer months, of May through August, we meet on the first Monday of the month, at Fritz’s Wooden Nickel. Some of the social club functions that happen throughout the year are: club rides, club trips up north, poker runs, trail picnics, summer picnics, bus trips, radar runs, and spaghetti/pizza suppers. The Neboshone Trail Riders are a member of Region 3 and the Tri-County Alliance. We are also a member of the Illinois Association of Snowmobile Clubs. Some of our members are very active in both of these organizations and give our local club a voice at the next level. There are also several club members who are part of the Ogle County Sheriffs Department’s snowmobile rescue squad. These members can be called on in case of emergency to assist the Sheriffs Department with its operations.

Please use caution in that area and when you come across the water either go around or turn back the way you came from and find another way to your destination. 🎉 We are so excited to be a proud supporter of this year's Cardinal Community Christmas taking place on Sunday, December 3 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in downtown Stillman Valley!

🎄 All of the trees for our 12th annual Tree Decorating Contest are decorated and waiting to be lit for the season! The official Tree Lighting Ceremony will be at 5:00 p.m. where we will announce which organizations won our first three awards: Creativity/Originality, Best Use of Theme, and Overall Appearance.

💰 Don't forget to bring your loose change (or dollar bills) on Sunday! Attendees at Cardinal will be able to vote for their favorite tree by donating money to the respective organization’s jar. The organization that raises the most money will be crowned the People’s Choice winner! All funds raised from the jars will donated to Bread Of Life! The People’s Choice jars will be located in our bank vestibule.

👏 A big thank you to all of the businesses and organizations who signed up to participate in this year's contest!

Trail report:

There are two spots on the trail with open water. One spot is just outside Monroe Center on the North side of Rt. 72 and the other is just east of Rothwell Rd. in between Stillman Valley and Davis Junction. Please use caution when traveling these areas and have fun this weekend. Enjoy the snow while we still have it.

Neboshone for Stillman Valley, Davis Junction and New Milford areas and Rochelle Rail Riders are opening trails as of 5pm today. Will advise when other areas of Tri County open.

Trails are open but....
There is a lot of snow in ditches - which means it is not in the fields where the trails are

Conditions are anywhere from ok, to poor, especially on chisel plow ground. We try to utilize waterways and fence lines to hold snow but in some spots we can’t do anything.

Some routes like the run to New Milford have fewer chisels plowed fields so may be desirable.

There is not currently enough snow to groom.

Please help by not blowing out every inch of snow off the trails with track spin, and stay between markers. This will help snow pack down.

Take note we have made some reroutes on our trials. Please take time to check Polaris Ride Command if you have it.

Please help pack the snow - not blow it off the trails- or the trails will quickly close again.

Have fun- and be safe!
