W/NP’s goals are to promote mutual understanding and establish lasting relationships among citizens and institutions of Wisconsin and Nicaragua; foster volunteerism and self-help attitudes through the implementation of economic and social development projects. June Warehouse Packing was a busy day moving/receiving/packing tables, chairs, firefighting equipment from Howard FD, learning center supplies and more! HCE members, new volunteers and the “old faithfuls” (as one person put it) worked together to get as much done as we could, but the volume outweighed our crew so if anyone is interested to help dismantle & strap chairs in the coming weeks before the July 16 summer warehouse gathering please let us know, we’d welcome your help. Thank you, it’s a team effort as we work together for the good of others 😊

About 10 years ago “JIMBO” joined in to share his sewing machine skills & what a blessing he has been! Jimbo spontaneously & pleasantly surprised us this morning to check over the donated sewing machines waiting for shipment (293 were sent last year & over 4,000 in total) He commented this experience of helping out, getting to know other volunteers & people in Nicaragua has been one of the more meaningful parts of his life 🙏❤️🤗

A beautiful day for the 2026 Portage County Cultural Festival, so well organized and attended. “Over 10,000 area residents and visitors attended the 34th Portage County Cultural Festival at Stevens Point Area Senior High on May 2, 2026. The event featured countless examples of global cultural traditions from music to dance to arts and crafts to food to activities.” -
