This page uplifts his memory, supports families, raises gun violence awareness, & continues his spirit of faith, hope, & generosity. The Quentin Ra’Shad Nelson Memorial page was created to honor the life and legacy of Quentin Ra’Shad Worrels Nelson — a son, brother, friend, and beloved member of the Steubenville community. Quentin graduated from Steubenville High School in 2005 and went on to play
football at Waynesburg University. After surviving a life-threatening illness and receiving a heart transplant, he saw life as a precious gift from God. Determined to make the most of his second chance, Quentin returned to continue his education at Youngstown State University, where he was working toward a bachelor’s degree in biomedical science with hopes of helping transplant patients like himself. He was nearing graduation when his life was taken by gun violence at just 24 years old. Known for his faith, determination, and compassion, Quentin often said, “Look at the scar on my chest and you’ll know there is a God and He gives second chances.” One of his favorite quotes was by Henry David Thoreau: “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” This quote truly reflected the way Quentin lived — with purpose. Because Quentin always valued learning and self-improvement, his mother, Gail Worrels, established the Quentin Ra’Shad Nelson Memorial Scholarship Fund in his honor. The fund supported students for several years, continuing Quentin’s legacy of helping others pursue their education and dreams. This page exists to:
• Celebrate Quentin’s memory and share his story.
• Bring comfort and encouragement to families who have lost loved ones to violence.
• Raise awareness and stand together against gun violence in our communities.
• Promote healing, faith, and hope in the face of grief. Quentin’s legacy reminds us all that life is precious, and “to whom much is given, much is expected.” Through his memory, we strive to love, serve, and uplift others.
