There are parts of our community most people will never fully see.

We see them every day.

At the Friendship Room, we work at street level with people experiencing homelessness, addiction, poverty, exploitation and human trafficking. We meet women in dangerous situations. We meet people battling addiction. We meet families who need food, clothing or somewhere safe to go. We meet people on days they may not be proud of, and sometimes on the worst day of their lives.

And we meet them there.

There isn’t always a neat success story. This work can be difficult, uncomfortable and incredibly complicated. We don’t require someone to have their life figured out before we believe they are worthy of dignity, compassion and help.

Sometimes we provide food or clothing. Sometimes we help someone find resources or a safe place. Sometimes we sit across from someone who feels like they have nowhere else to turn and start with one question: What do you need right now?

For years, this work has been possible because people in our community believed in it enough to support it.

We do not receive government funding. We depend on private donations to keep our doors open and continue meeting people where they are. And just as costs have risen for every family and business in our community, they have risen for us too. So we’re asking more people to get to know the Friendship Room. Learn about the people we serve. Learn about the work happening quietly inside these walls every day.

And if our mission speaks to you, we hope you’ll consider becoming part of it. 💙 Because some of the people who need our community the most are also the easiest to overlook.

We refuse to overlook them.

School is back in session today which means our Little Free Library will be visited by many small hands looking for an after school read - if you have children’s books we always welcome and need them for the school children .

Back to school also means we will need small individual milks and sandwiches to offer the older kids looking for snacks to take home immediately after school hours .

Many kids visit us looking for quick foods, sandwiches, granola type bars, individual yogurts, fresh fruit anything they can eat on the run .

Good luck to all with the new school year and thank you all for keeping us supplied and ready to assist at street level.

It is apple picking day !
It has been a tremendous gift to plant fruit trees and other perennial fruits and veggies for our community to enjoy .
