The RISE CommUNITY Youth Group, established in 2017 is a community youth group that focuses on reaching as many young people as possible and making a positive impact on their lives and the
community. Starting as a community youth choir that focused on the community and Ministered in song at various churches, locally and out of town under the Direction of Mr. The leaders, young people, and commun
ity felt that the organization should be expanded with programming and other community engagement opportunities. Recently, the addition of the EMPOWER youth mentoring group, which consist of group mentoring sessions, professional development activities and 1 on 1 mentoring. We have successfully added the following programs
* “Sisterhood Club”, which focuses on things that young women deal with on a day to day basis, they have group discussion, and do many projects together as their bonding time and this program is under the Direction of Ms. Sa’Niyah Newton
* “Brotherhood Club”, which focuses on the growth and development of young men and they have group discussions and also a time of fellowship, which including activities such as dodgeball, and this program is under the Direction of Mr. Jayden Boyd
* “ASPIRE Youth Leadership Board”, which is a program that focuses on teaching our young people about leadership and how to become a successful leader, this board meets once a month to talk about all of our various programs, they bring ideas to the table for the growth and development of the program this group are Ms. Sabria Jones who serves as the Director of Advancement, Ms. Aniyah Warner who serves on both the adult and youth boards and is our Junior President & CEO, Ms. Sa’Niyah Newton, who serves as our President, Ms. Jazmin Montgomery who serves as our Vice President, Ms. Kaliyah Chamberlain, who serves as our Vice President of Finances and Programming, Ms. Maleah Barbour who serves as our Treasurer and our Secretary, Ms. Aniyah Warner, who serves as the President of the Choir, Ms. LeAsia Hawkins, who serves as our Outreach Coordinator, Ms. Za’Harriah Herring who serves as the Director of the Advisory Board/Future Leaders Training, Mr. Demeatrius Benjamin who serves as the Advisory Board Assistant, and an advisory Board with Mr. Ni’Zair Vick, Ms. Alonna Barbour, Mr. Aaron Ashby, Mr. Gavin Brown, , and Ms. Amri Jones and they are under the Direction of Mr. Brenten (Inky) Jones and Overseer, Mr. Trey Jeter, we have successfully added our nursing program, which will consist of an amazing RN coming in once a month for health checks and will also have a “Future RN” program and is under the Direction of Mrs. Missy Skidmore, RN, we have successfully added our Therapy program, which will consist of an amazing counselor (LSW) coming in once a month to be available for therapy sessions and will also have a “Future LSW” program and is under the Direction of Mrs. Megan Whiteleather, we have successfully added our
* “We Care About our CommUNITY” Outreach program, which focus on the young people doing community services, collecting items to make care packages and also taking in clothing/shoe donations for those that may be in need and is under the Direction of Ms. Zhane’ McBride and Ms. LeAsia Hawkins. We also have community leaders come in to speak with our young people and talk to them about various things at least once a month, we take them on educational and also fun trips, we have formed a kickball team that meets and plays at least once a week. With all of these amazing programs and amazing additions, the leaders and young people thought it would be appropriate to change our name to “The RISE CommUNITY Youth Group”, because threw our programs we continue to RISE above poverty, depressions, and violence! And ALWAYS RISE to be the best you can be and make a positive change in our CommUNITY! The program is under the Direction and Leadership of Brother Trey Jeter, President & CEO, Sister Daija James, Vice President of Operations & Finance, Sister Zhane’ McBride, Director of Administrative Services/Outreach, Sister LaTosha Jenkins, Director of Special Programs, Sister Myisha Dokes, Director of New Initiatives, Sister Arabia Shanklin, Advisory Board Member, Sister Shaleeta Smith, Interim Board Chairwoman, Brother James Gorrell, Advisory Board Member, Sister Megan Reynolds, Director of Counseling Services, Sister Ave, Director of Nursing Services, and Brother Tyler Yoho, Board Member/Youth Leader. All of our Board Members have been a vital part in the success of our programs, as we have all donated our time, money, and attention to our young people!
