Sycamore Youth Center The Sycamore Youth Center provides dynamic after-school programming for over 400 students in the area.

It is a place where students cultivate their gifts and talents that will set them on a positive path for the rest of their lives.

The students had a great week at the Sycamore Sewing Camp! They picked out the fabric, measured it, cut it, and sewed it. The camp was three hours a day for 5 days, so they spent 15 hours this week learning to sew. They made aprons with pockets and ties, matching pot holders, and scrunchies. They did an amazing job! 🪡🧵👏🏻

I'd like to give a shout out of thanks to Diana Tygett, who volunteered her time to teach five weeklong summer camps at Sycamore. She taught three ballet camps, a jazz/contemporary dance camp, and did the choreography for the musical theater camp. Thank you so much for sharing your time and talent with our area children, Diana! We at Sycamore really appreciate it!

The Sycamore Corps students worked very hard for the last three days as they volunteered to serve at the Greek Fest on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Yesterday, the crew split up, with half distributing food to needy children through our Sycamore Mobile Food Pantry at 6 sites throughout Steubenville and Wintersville, and the other half working at the Greek Fest. The Sycamore Children’s Ballet Camp wrapped up today with a ballet recital by the Middle School aged ballerinas. We had nearly 50 ballerinas sign up for the camp so we split it into three groups. Diana Tygett did an amazing job leading the camps! Thank you so much, Diana! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

🧵✂️ The Sycamore Sewing Camp wrapped up today! ✂️🧵
Over the course of the week, the girls learned valuable sewing skills while creating their own aprons, scrunchies, and potholders. It was exciting to watch their confidence and creativity grow with each project they completed.

A special thank you goes to Marianne DuBois for leading the camp, along with an outstanding team of volunteers who helped make the week such a success.
One of the highlights of the camp came at the end of the week when Rebecca Wherry created a beautiful keepsake quilt using small pieces of fabric from each of the girls' projects.

The quilt was presented to Marianne as a birthday gift, and she was truly touched by the thoughtful gesture and the love behind it.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year's Sewing Camp such a memorable experience for our students! 🧵🎂👏🏻
