A Championship Effort On and Off the Field!
Congratulations to Coach Josh Leasure and our Steubenville 8U Red team on finishing as the Washington Heights “King of the Hill: Summer Showdown” Runner-Up! 🥈
This group has continued to put in the work all summer long, battling every single weekend, and their growth was on full display this weekend. While the trophy says runner-up, the way they competed and represented SBA was something every player, coach, and parent should be proud of.
What made this weekend even more special wasn’t just what they accomplished on the field—it was how they carried themselves off of it.
After their own games, our players were found in the stands enthusiastically cheering on another team in the tournament simply because they had built a connection with them over the weekend. That kind of support, respect, and love for the game speaks volumes about this group.
In fact, opposing teams and families went out of their way to praise our players for their sportsmanship, positive attitudes, and the pride they showed over the weekend. The Cornell Mamba’s even publicly shared that SBA 8U Red had “gained fans” over the weekend because of the way they played the game.
That’s bigger than wins and losses. Keep coaching and raising these boys right!
