Last week, we were contacted by Aubri Dicarlo. Aubri is a Family Recovery Center
Prevention Educator.

She requested assistance in adapting her prevention curriculum to cater to the unique needs of her students with developmental disabilities. Statistics indicate that individuals with developmental disabilities who engage in substance use are at a higher risk of developing substance use disorder (SUD). Therefore, they wanted to ensure that their prevention services encompass all populations.

Thank you, Aubri and Family Recovery Center, for taking the steps to adapt your prevention curriculum to help every student.

As a nationwide attempt to help individuals impacted by gambling-related harms, this year’s is focused on a community driven approach to disordered gambling awareness and support. And to further help those affected, tomorrow is , a great reminder for all healthcare providers and related organizations to screen for gambling-related harms as they would for other substance use disorders. ℹ️
There is a disturbing trend going around involving high doses of Benadryl (diphenhydramine).

Teens are intentionally taking large amounts of the allergy medication to hallucinate.

🕴️🫣
Some call it the “Hat Man” challenge, because of a recurring hallucination thousands of people have reported to see.

⚠️
This is not a harmless trend. Benadryl is a medication, and in large doses, it can be life-threatening.

Taking excessive amounts of Benadryl can cause:
• Severe hallucinations
• Seizures
• Heart rhythm problems
• Organ damage
• Coma
• Death

⚠️
Please talk to your kids about the dangers of misusing over-the-counter medications.

Are you willing to take the time to listen to a message that could benefit you and/or your child?

Are you struggling seeing the mountain from the valley?

Do you feel like you could use some community support or just be in a room with people who may be going through the same things as you?

Are you questioning what agencies in this community could help you and/or your child?

Hear this out—
If you can stand for an hour in the trunk or treat lines for candy or for an upcoming Black Friday sale— why not take an hour to listen to a message of encouragement for your life, see that you’re not alone in any of your struggles or feelings, and better your mindset so you can be a better parent, coach, teacher, human, etc.??

On top of it- while you do this, we will give your kids an hour of playing time with pizza and refreshments while they also get wrapped in community support.

Did we mention it’s all FREE!!

We really hope to see you there!
