For over 100 years, Troop 1 Sterling has been following Sir Robert Baden-Powell's vision of providing a fun and educational Scouting program. We are committed to providing a strong outdoor program, including camping, hiking, and canoeing. Troop 1 provides each Scout the opportunity to work toward the Eagle Scout rank. Aims of Scouting
The BSA program works toward three aims; Citizenship, Charact
er and Fitness. All activities are geared toward accomplishing these aims, while keeping the safety of the boys as the highest priority. Citizenship
This aim is concerned with participating citizenship. Citizenship means the boy’s relationship with others. He comes to learn of his obligations to other people and to the society he lives in. Character
This aim is concerned with what the boy is himself; his personal qualities, his values and his outlook. Fitness
A third aim of BSA is development of physical, mental and emotional fitness. Outdoors
The Boy Scout program is designed to take place outdoors. Scouts share responsibility and learn to cooperate with each other. Skills learned at Troop meetings are put to the test. Teamwork and self reliance become a way of life. Ideals
Ideals of Scouting are spelled out in the Scout Oath, Law, Motto and Slogan. The goal of Troop 1 is for each Scout to live these ideals. Some Of Our Recent Activities
A goal of the Troop is to offer at least one outdoor activity each month. Here is a list of our recent activities:
