🏡 Sterling is Home for Brian Hawkins.

As an agent with The Cornerstone Agency Inc., Brian has built his career in the Sterling area while staying connected to the community he calls home. Through his involvement with the Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce, he’s seen the value of networking, building relationships, and taking advantage of the resources available to local businesses.

Outside of work, Brian enjoys hunting and spending time with family. With his daughter attending Illinois State University, he’s looking forward to making trips down to visit her and create some fun new memories together.

One of the perks of living in Sterling is having that close-knit community feel while still being within driving distance of bigger college towns, sporting events, and plenty of new experiences to explore.

And yet… Sterling is still home. 🏡

Here’s a Sterling classic that never goes out of style! 🍕

Al & Leda’s Pizza Villa Sterling is the oldest family-owned restaurant in Sterling and Rock Falls, serving up homemade Italian favorites that generations have grown to love. From their lasagna, fresh bread, and homemade sauces to their famous square-cut pizza, there’s a reason this spot holds such a special place in the community.

And if you’ve been to a local game lately, chances are you’ve had one of their infamous pies! Between supporting local schools and showing up for the community, Al & Leda’s has been part of so many local memories. If you have one, please share it with us in the comments!

🎄 Bring the family in for a nostalgic pizza night filled with all the classics, and take a moment to see Paula’s 2026 holiday tree theme. She goes all out decorating for the season, making it a special part of the Al & Leda’s experience year after year.

For 45 years, Wilco Rental has been family owned and operated right here in Sterling. 🏡

They rent outdoor power equipment to homeowners, contractors and landscapers, and have an experienced service department to help keep that equipment running smoothly.

But what really makes Wilco feel like home? Many of the same people have been part of the team for years, creating a comfortable, friendly environment that feels a lot like family.

Right here on Locust Street, and proud to call Sterling home.

What does it look like to build a business while still feeling connected to home? 🛜

For Parker Valdez, owner and founder of Dealer Activation, Sterling became the place to do just that.

After building a business that reaches beyond our community, Parker found that he didn’t have to choose between growing a company and staying connected to the people and places around him. Sterling offers the accessibility to work remotely, build relationships locally, and serve clients both near and far.

For Parker, Sterling has given him a place to put down roots while continuing to grow, connect, and still build something of his own.

And that feels like home. 🏡

This is home to Logan Shearer, the Challand middle school STEM teacher who has spent the past 10 years encouraging students to push beyond what they think they’re capable of. 💫

Her commitment to local kids extends far beyond the classroom. Logan is entering her tenth season coaching high school softball and also coaches middle school volleyball.

Teachers and coaches like Mrs. Shearer are the glue of our community. They challenge our kids, believe in them and help shape who they become. We’re grateful that Sterling Schools is home for Logan Shearer. 🏡
