πŸ’š What if you didn't have to explain everything?

Sometimes it helps just to sit in a room with people who get it.

Tomorrow (Sept 1) is NAMI Sauk Area's Connection Recovery Support Group at the Dixon Family YMCA.

This is a free, peer-led support group for adults who have experienced symptoms of a mental health condition. It's a place to share experiences, listen, learn from others and find connection.

πŸ“ Dixon Family YMCA
πŸ•‘ 6:30–8:00 PM
πŸ’š FREE
πŸ™Œ No registration needed

You don't have to have the perfect words. You don't have to have everything figured out.

πŸ’œ September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month.

This month, NAMI Sauk Area is joining communities across the country to raise awareness, start conversations, and remind people that help, hope, and connection matter.

Here are a few ways to join us this September:

🧠 QPR Su***de Prevention Training – Sept 3rd
Learn how to recognize warning signs, offer support, and help connect someone to hope. Free and open to the community.

πŸ•―οΈ Su***de Prevention Awareness Vigils – September 10
Join us as we remember those we’ve lost, support those who are struggling, and stand together in hope.

πŸ“ We’ll also be sharing su***de prevention messages throughout the Sauk Valley this month β€” keep an eye out for our billboards!

You don’t have to be a mental health professional to make a difference. Sometimes, simply starting the conversation can be the first step.

πŸ’œ You are not alone. We are in this together.

Join us for a special WellRounded Guided Art event on September 8 as Corrine and Maggie guide us in creating a Su***de Prevention Awareness quilt β€” one felt piece at a time.

Each participant will create their own piece of the quilt, which will eventually come together to make one large community quilt representing connection, hope, remembrance, and su***de prevention awareness.

🎨 No art experience necessary
🧡 No sewing machines involved β€” just felt, creativity, and community!
πŸ’› Materials will be provided

And if a quilt piece isn't your thing, canvases will also be available for those who would rather create an individual project.

πŸ“… September 8
⏰ 5:30 PM
πŸ“ Platt Park, Sterling, IL
🌿 This event will be held outdoors.

Registration is required! Reserve your spot here:

During their recent Good Home Sale, the neighborhood collected proceeds and generously donated over $400 to NAMI Sauk Area! We are so grateful for their kindness and support of mental health in our community.

Tina, one of our board members and Stigma Busters, had the pleasure of meeting with Carrie to accept the donation on behalf of NAMI Sauk Area.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, The Acres! Your generosity truly makes a difference. πŸ’š We are so lucky to have such a supportive community behind us!
