DHROOPAD is a Bengali American cultural organization in the greater Washington DC Metro area formed in 2000 with an objective to promote the rich Bengali cultural heritage, and to foster arts and literature as a force that transcends social, cultural and religious barriers and instigates compassion for humanity. DHROOPAD is certified as a public charity organization under IRS 501 (c) (3).

The kickoff meeting for Dhroopad’s Bongomela 2025 took place on July 14, 2025, and saw the attendance of Dhroopad's longstanding members, including Shawkat Khan Dipu, Anutosh and Tinku Saha, Kamal Mostafa, Nancy Kamal, Md. Jamil, Chaman Jamil, Insha, and Enam. Representatives from various organizations that have collaborated with Dhroopad over the past 24 years were also present and pledged their support. Notable Notable among these were the Bangladesh Association of America (BAAI), Priobangls, Bangla School (BCCDI), BAITPO, BEST, Kahlar, FF, FF DMV, BAGGWDC, Ta Thoi, Ebong Theater-X, JUADC, Icchamoti, Surobitan, and Ekkathur Foundation. Eight executive members and directors from the new generation cultural group, Northern Virginia Bengali Association (NVBA), were present and showed their overwhelming support.
A broad-based committee will be formed soon to ensure the smooth progress of Bongomela 2025. The artist of the evening was Ankhi Haldar, a Tagore vocalist from Dhaka and disciple of Padmasree Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya. Debu Nayak’s excellent Tabla accompaniment was a feast for the ears. Ankhi captivated the audience with her gifted voice and Tagore renditions. The evening concluded with a sumptuous dinner.
