Sterling Striders is the Sterling Youth Community Track and Field program designed to help teach youth the basics of track and field and allow them the chance to compete against other local community track and field programs.

For anyone interested in continuing track through the summer, the first opportunity is on Memorial Day in Garden Plain. Entries must be done through coacho.com by May 24.
Below is a list of the AAU meets available in the area. In order to attend the regional championship in Joplin (which is the national qualifier) your athlete must attend one of the district qulaifiers- we will be going to El Dorado. You must sign up for these meets on the Coach-O website as well.

There is another meet in Topeka June 21, message us if you would like to have additional info on this meet.

Just a quick reminder... Since we didn't have any parent volunteers step up, practice will be on your own tonight and Monday due to conflicts with junior high and high school track meets.

A few announcements for Striders this week:
- No practice Monday April 27th (home JH meet)
- Wednesday April 30th – We will sign up for the Hesston meet this night and pass out uniform tops to those who purchased them. I do have a few extras that can be purchased ($10). Bring your registration and payment. I will send them in on Thursday. There are relays available for the Hesston meet for 1st/2nd grades, 3rd/4th grades, and 5th/6th grades.
- Relays sign-ups: We will try to sign up as many relays as possible. That may mean we need to move some runners into upper age groups. Relays will be formed with kids that have their Strider membership paid (if you paid, but not with one of the pink sheets, or passed it on to Jason directly, let me know). Preference will be given to those who regularly attend practice and have their registration turned in on time.

Entries for the Hasltead meet are to be sent by Friday (April 25).
On Wednesday we will be arranging relays. Anyone in grades 3/4 or 5/6 interested in running a relay needs to let me know so that I can get those put together. (There are no relays available for the K-2nd graders)
I have a lot of kids telling me they want to run relays, but they aren't sure if they are going to the Halstead meet. I only need relays for the Halstead meet at this time. We will practice those on Wednesday.

We will not practice tonight. Although it feels okay at times, when the wind blows it is cold. If you feel like you want to practice, feel free to take your own strider to the track and do the workout that is on the website.

With the weather forecast, we are considering cancelling tomorrow's practice. We see no need to make kids (or their parents) miserable for a practice; however, we will wait until noon tomorrow to make anything official. You know Kansas weather, it may be a beautiful day :-) Check back tomorrow afternoon for the final decision. We will also send out emails and have it announced at the school if we cancel. Rene

I have updated the sterlingstriders.webs.com website with the meet information that I currently have. Feel free to check it out so you can begin planning what events you may want your child to compete in.
Friday's Practice will be run by Leanna Hook and Karna Morris. I am sure any additional help would be welcomed.
We are also still in need of volunteers to run Monday's practice as Dwayne has parent-teacher conferences.

Attention Strider Parents! Just learned from Jen Mantz that Ellinwood will NOT have a meet this year since they too are coachless. However, Garden Plain has two meets, Halstead and Hesston each have one, so there's still plenty of chances to hit the track!

ATTENTION STRIDERS! Since Coach Jen has moved out of the area, Striders will not be coached in an official capacity, unless one of you parents volunteers to coach (if interested, please get in contact with Jason Briar). However, if you still want to compete on your own, meets for this coming youth track & field season are posted on the website.
