Today was the 82nd anniversary of the D-Day landings on the Normandy coast June 6th, 1944. In honor and remembrance of the brave pilots and aircraft of WW2 we hosted Remember the Warbirds. Remember the Warbirds was SMAA’s first attempt at a warbird themed Funfly. While the wind was most uncooperative several pilots showed up for a fun time of camaraderie, good food, and of course chasing planes that are blowing away and tying down canopies to keep the wind from taking them airborne. On a brighter note, the P51 kite was able to make several successful flights! Thank you to everyone that braved the wind to come out to the field today and a big thank you to Erick, Stephanie, Vicky, and Phil for handling a great lunch and Rod, Dan, and Phil for getting the place setup Friday and cleaned up today.

We look forward to seeing everyone and hopefully better weather October 10th, 2026 for our annual Spooktacular Funfly so make sure to save the date on your calendars!

We had a great time flyin before the meeting this evening. Weather permitting we are at the field every Tuesday evening with the club meeting being held every third Tuesday at the field though the summer starting at 6:30.

While at Remember the Warbirds enter to win these two gorgeous airplanes! Both planes will be viewable at Remember the Warbirds along with a chance to enter to win. Enter to win the Eflite P51 BNF with one entry $5, three entry’s $10, and 10 entry’s $30. Enter to win the HobbyZone UMX Sport Cub S with one entry $2, three entry’s $5, and arms length $20!
Please note both planes are equipped with Spektrum receivers and do not include a radio or battery. Only the plane itself is included.

NOTE: The drawing for both planes will be held during SMAA’s Spooktacular Funfly October 10th, 2026. You do not need to be present to win. Entrys will be available at both Remember the Warbirds and the October Spooktacular funflys. Contact a SMAA officer at either event to enter!

While we did not have many helicopters at the third annual Heli’s over Northeastern Colorado we still had a great morning of flying! Several youth were able to get up in the air with our club trainer for multiple flights before the wind came in. Thanks to all how came out and see ya June 6th for our D-Day memorial funfly!

We are D-30 days to our 82nd D-Day anniversary Funfly! Join us at Po***ck Air Park Saturday June 6th starting at 9am for a fun filled day of airplanes, choppers, quads, rockets, cars, and what ever rc fun you can come up with. While the theme may be warbirds, past and present, the event is open to all rc aerial things. Lunch will be available at the field for $10 a meal and the pit pass for event participants is $10. We welcome spectators to come out and watch the fun with no charge! We will have an instructor pilot and trainer plane on hand as well. Please check out the flyer for more information. Also come out to the field and enter for a chance to win an electric Horizon Hobby P51. Feel free to reach out with any questions! We hope to see you at the field as you help us remember the planes and pilots who flew them!
