Glacial erratics tell a story of the past. They were deposited thousands of years ago from receding glaciers, left in a unfamiliar landscape. Some like this are reshaped over time, frost can create cracks in the rock leading to channels for water and ice to form eventually splitting the giant boulder in two.

The iconic pink granite that Acadia is known for. Battered by the sea, the coastline is constantly changing. More intense and frequent storms as a result of warming oceans will exasperate the process. While the rocky coast of the region is resilient other areas are more susceptible to erosion and rising sea levels.

The Mount Wachusett Fire tower was reconstructed in 2012 as part of a larger $8.4 million project to preserve public access to the mountain. The base of the tower is a 12-foot high accessible observation deck which grants visitors a 360-degree, uninterrupted view of the surroundings. Public access to parks and recreation help invoke an appreciation for nature and the parks themselves that provide the experience.

Liberty State Park, situated along the New Jersey side of the Upper New York Bay provides breathtaking views of the NYC skyline and the Statue of Liberty.
The park covers 1,212 acres, there are picnic tables, walking trails and playgrounds for those looking for a place to enjoy open space.

This is the Lynde Basin, part of the Wekepeke Watershed in Sterling, MA. In the 1800's this was home to a chair factory and later provided the people of Clinton with drinking water before the creation of the Wachusett Reservoir.
