We are saddened to share the off-duty death of Firefighter Kyle Trombly, who passed away after suffering injuries in a motor vehicle crash today. Trombly, aged 34, was a 13-year member of the fire district, joining Arvada Fire in 2011. He started his fire service journey volunteering at Fairmount Fire until joining Arvada Fire. Most recently, Trombly served out of Station 1 A Shift from January 2023 to present. He also served at Station 4 in his career. Trombly was an active member of the Arvada Fire Honor Guard. Kyle was a great friend to many. He leaves a lasting impression on all of those who were lucky to serve with him. Please keep Kyle's family and loved ones and our entire Arvada Fire family in your thoughts.

Headline Update! The eastern plains have been upgraded to a Blizzard Warning, in effect from midnight tonight through midnight tomorrow. Travel will become very hazardous in those areas. Avoid travel east and northeast of Denver late tonight through Tuesday! ⚠

Strong and damaging winds are expected Wednesday as a strong storm system races east across Colorado. Blowing dust will be possible and could reduce visibility to near zero at times. In the mountains, blowing snow may reduce visibility and make travel difficult Wednesday morning. Dangerous fire weather conditions will also be possible, so avoid any burning or anything that could produce a spark.

Denver firefighter passes-away while on duty

DENVER – A nineteen-year Denver Fire Department (DFD) Technician passed away this afternoon after experiencing an apparent cardiac event while at work. The 42-year-old was taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment by emergency room staff but he did not regain consciousness and was pronounced dead around 4 pm (MST).

“The entire Denver Fire Department is reeling from this loss, and we extend our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of our brother who passed-away,” said Fire Chief Desmond Fulton. “We ask for privacy at this time as we deal with this terrible unexpected tragedy.”

More information regarding the firefighter’s identity will be provided once the proper notifications have been made to the family.
