A PROUD DAY FOR OUR COMMUNITY! 🎉

On Friday May 29th, 2026, we celebrated the unveiling of a historic plaque in Chaldean Town, honoring the generations of Chaldean families who built their lives, businesses, and dreams along Detroit’s iconic 7 Mile Road corridor. This segment is courtesy of Fox 2 Detroit.

This marker stands as a lasting tribute to the resilience, entrepreneurship, faith, and cultural heritage that helped shape not only this neighborhood, but the story of Detroit itself.

As we reflect on the past, we also celebrate the legacy that continues to inspire future generations. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special moment and thank you Fox 2 Detroit in sharing this historic moment in preserving and recognizing Chaldean history.

Today marks a historic day for the Chaldean community. At the crossroads of Seven Mile Rd. and Charleston, in Detroit, MI, the street is now officially recognized as Chaldean Town.

Once the heart of Detroit’s Chaldean community, Chaldean Town became home to generations of families and businesses after Chaldeans began settling in the area from northern Iraq in the early 20th century.

At its height in the 1970s and 1980s, Chaldean Town stretched from State Fair Avenue to Six Mile Road — a vibrant cultural hub that helped shape Detroit’s story and continues to inspire future generations.

We extend our gratitude to the State of Michigan and the many representatives and advocates who helped make this recognition possible. Thank you for honoring the history, culture, and lasting impact of the Chaldean community.
