STANDING WITH THE FAMILY OF NOLAN XAVIER WELLS
One week later, and we are still shattered that one of our own is mourning her son; a young man who should have returned home from a day on the lake. NCNW is an organization of Black mothers, aunts, sisters, and loved ones who want our Black children to come home alive.
We stand with the Wells family in mourning the loss of Nolan Xavier Wells: a beloved son, athlete, teammate, and young man whose life was cut far too short. One week ago today, what should have been an ordinary weekend of joy; became a tragedy that swept the nation with grief, uncertainty, and unanswered questions. America, please understand that silence becomes synonymous with negligence and harm when a life has been taken and loved ones are yearning for peace. The family of Nolan Xavier Wells deserve answers.
Before America was ready to believe in Black women, NCNW was created as a safe space rooted in the conviction that Black women and Black children deserve a limitless future. We stand at the intersection of motherhood and advocacy, and we know this: when a Black child is lost under unclear circumstances, our communities cannot assume the system will move with urgency or care on its own. We echo the Wells family’s call for a thorough, transparent, and accountable investigation into what happened to Nolan on Horn Island in Mississippi. Every family deserves nothing less than the entire truth.
Black families deserve the joy of friendship, travel, and celebration regardless of who they’re in the company of. And every Black person deserves to travel knowing that no one is left behind, that care is active rather than assumed, and that safety is prioritized regardless of the color of our skin and the coils of our hair.
NCNW stands with the Wells family in grief, in advocacy, and in the demand for truth.

Our NCNW Hump Day Mixer benefiting the 2026 Educational Awards for qualified graduating high school students was a tremendous success!

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Corliss Darnell and her team for coordinating such a wonderful evening filled with fellowship, delicious food, and lots of fun. Your dedication and hard work made this event truly special.

A sincere thank you also goes out to every NCNW member who purchased tickets, attended the event, and supported this effort through generous donations. Your commitment and support will help us continue investing in the educational pursuits of deserving students in our community.

Special thank you also to Owner, Steve of Double Shot Grill for having us!

❤️ Serving with Purpose. Leading with Love. ❤️

The ladies of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), Macomb County Section were honored to partner with the Salvation Army in serving the less fortunate members of our community.

Our dedicated volunteers lovingly prepared the meal for the day and were committed to serving each guest with excellence, compassion, and a warm smile. We believe that every act of kindness has the power to uplift, encourage, and remind others that they are seen, valued, and cared for.

Service is at the heart of who we are, and we are grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact in our community—one meal, one smile, and one act of love at a time.

Thank you to every NCNW sister who gave of her time, talents, and heart. Together, we continue to make a difference.

The NCNW ladies showed up in numbers to be a part of the Juneteenth Celebration in the City of Sterling Heights with the Sterling Heights African American Coalition (SHAAC). (See video below)

What an amazing time we had at the 2026 Juneteenth Celebration this year with the African American Coalition in partnership with the City of Sterling Heights. Over 40 vendors, plenty of food trucks, met lots of people and great fun!
