🚨Concerning flood threat in Central Texas on Thursday! Level 3 out of 4 flood threat means significant rainfall is likely, which can quickly create flooding!

The window for flooding opens late Wednesday, lasting through Friday. Several inches of rainfall are expected.

What you need to do: make sure you have a way to receive severe weather alerts (primarily flooding). The KXAN News First Warning Weather app is a tremendous tool.

With approval from Governor Abbott, I request that all flags in Erath County be flown at half-staff until sunrise on Tuesday, September 29th.

Erath County,

It is with a very heavy heart that I share the passing of Precinct 4 Commissioner Jim Buck.

Jim was more than someone I had the privilege of serving with. He was a friend, a good man, and someone who cared deeply about Erath County and the people he represented. I am thankful for the time I had working alongside him, for the conversations we shared, and for the commitment he brought to serving this county and his precinct. And yes, him always being ready to “pay the bills.”

This is a difficult day for all of us, but especially for those who loved him most. Please keep his wife Deborah, his daughters, Jennifer and Jamie, and the rest of his family in your prayers in the days ahead.

Jim will be greatly missed by all of us who knew him and had the opportunity to serve with him. I am grateful for his friendship, his service, and the positive impact he made in Erath County.

🚒🔥 **NEW BRUSH TRUCK PUSH-IN CEREMONY!** 🔥🚒

The Huckabay Volunteer Fire Department is excited to invite our community to join us **this Friday at 6:00 PM** as we officially welcome **Brush 703** into service with a traditional **Push-In Ceremony!**

Our crew is putting the final touches on the truck this week, including getting the electronics programmed, equipment mounted, and everything ready for Brush 703 to begin serving our community.

The **Push-In Ceremony** is a longstanding fire service tradition dating back to the days of horse-drawn fire apparatus. Firefighters would unhitch the horses and push the apparatus backward into the station by hand. Today, departments continue the tradition when welcoming a new piece of equipment into service.

This truck represents much more than a new piece of equipment. It represents the hard work of our firefighters, the continued support of our community, and another major step forward in our ability to protect **Huckabay and the surrounding area.**
