In a world of disposable products, the Repair Cafe is a REVOLUTION!

It's a free community event where you can connect with your neighbors and learn from skilled volunteer fixers. Instead of buying new, we believe in the value of repairing older items — they're often better made and carry stories worth saving.

By fixing, we actively reduce waste, reuse our beloved items for longer, and recycle far less. It's a hands-on way to build a more sustainable community, one repair at a time. Fixers may even share their knowledge and teach you how to do the repair yourself!

Have a wobbly chair, a silent radio, or a favorite sweater with a hole? Bring it to the next Repair Cafe!

In a groundbreaking achievement, Finland has tested a cargo transport system that moves goods at 500 km/h without engines, wheels, or noise. This futuristic technology is based on magnetic levitation (maglev) and vacuum-tube systems, making it look like something straight out of science fiction. Unlike traditional transport that relies on fuel-burning engines, this system uses electromagnetic forces to levitate and push cargo pods forward with almost zero friction.
The absence of wheels and engines means minimal wear and tear, less maintenance, and virtually silent operations. Traditional cargo trucks and trains produce massive amounts of CO2, but this innovation can cut emissions drastically. By replacing fossil-fuel-based logistics with this clean high-speed system, global supply chains could become both faster and greener. Imagine shipping food, medicine, or electronics in a fraction of the time while reducing environmental damage.
Finland’s bold experiment highlights Europe’s leadership in sustainable transport innovation. If scaled, this could transform how goods move across continents, challenging trucking and air freight industries. It’s also safer since fewer moving parts reduce the chance of breakdowns and accidents. The potential economic benefits are immense — faster deliveries, reduced logistics costs, and long-term savings in fuel.
This project shows us the future: a transport revolution that is silent, sustainable, and lightning fast. Once commercially deployed, it could reshape global trade and supply chains forever.
